Abstract
A mattress assembly includes a base, coil springs over the base, and a side panel around at least a portion of the coil springs. The side panel includes a spacer fabric including a first knit layer, a second knit layer, and a fibrous material between the first knit layer and the second knit layer. Methods of forming the mattress assembly are also disclosed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A mattress assembly, comprising:
a base; coil springs over the base; and a side panel around at least a portion of the coil springs and comprising a spacer fabric including a first knit layer, a second knit layer, and a fibrous material between the first knit layer and the second knit layer.
2 . The mattress assembly of claim 1 , further comprising at least one elastomeric cushion over the coil springs.
3 . The mattress assembly of claim 1 , wherein the spacer fabric is coupled to at least one of the coil springs by a fastener directly coupled to only one of the first knit layer or the second knit layer.
4 . The mattress assembly of claim 3 , wherein the fastener comprises a ring, and wherein the ring is coupled to a rung of an outermost coil spring of the coil springs.
5 . The mattress assembly of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of one of the first knit layer or the second knit layer or at least a portion of the fibrous material is directly coupled to the coil springs.
6 . The mattress assembly of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first knit layer or the second knit layer has a greater modulus of elasticity along a first axis than along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis.
7 . The mattress assembly of claim 6 , wherein the modulus of elasticity is based on a knit pattern of the at least one of the first knit layer or the second knit layer.
8 . The mattress assembly of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first knit layer or the second knit layer has a greater compressibility along a first axis of the side panel than along a second axis of the side panel transverse to the first axis.
9 . The mattress assembly of claim 1 , wherein the fibrous material is a microfilament yarn.
10 . The mattress assembly of claim 9 , wherein the first knit layer and the second knit layer comprise two separate panels interconnected by the microfilament yarn.
11 . A mattress assembly, comprising:
a base; coil springs over the base; an upper layer over the coil springs; and a side panel around at least a portion of the coil springs and comprising a spacer fabric including a first knit layer and a second knit layer and a fibrous material between the first knit layer and the second knit layer.
12 . The mattress assembly of claim 11 , wherein the upper layer is an elastomeric cushion.
13 . The mattress assembly of claim 11 , wherein at least one of the first knit layer or the second knit layer has a greater compressibility along a first axis of the side panel than along a second axis of the side panel transverse to the first axis.
14 . The mattress assembly of claim 11 , wherein at least a portion of one of the first knit layer or the second knit layer or at least a portion of the fibrous material is directly coupled to the coil springs.
15 . The mattress assembly of claim 11 , wherein the first knit layer and the second knit layer comprise two separate panels interconnected by the fibrous material.
16 . A mattress comprising:
a coil layer; a spacer fabric partially extending at least partly around a lateral side of the coil layer, the spacer fabric comprising a first knit layer, a second knit layer, and a fibrous material positioned at least partly between the first knit layer and the second knit layer; and an elastomeric cushion over the coil layer.
17 . The mattress of claim 16 , wherein at least a portion of one of the first knit layer or the second knit layer or at least a portion of the fibrous material is directly coupled to the coil layer.
18 . The mattress of claim 16 , wherein the fibrous material is a microfilament yarn.
19 . The mattress of claim 18 , wherein the first knit layer and the second knit layer comprise two separate panels coupled together by the microfilament yarn.
20 . The mattress of claim 16 , wherein at least one of the first knit layer or the second knit layer has a greater compressibility along a first axis than along a second axis transverse to the first axis.Cited by (0)
