Abstract

The present application is directed to a cable reel assembly. The assembly includes a center hub member having a main body with four side walls and two coiler section members. Opposing side walls of the center hub member each have an aperture or slot. Each coiler section member includes an arcuate base member having a securing mechanism extending radially inward therefrom and opposing side walls extend radially outwardly from the base member. The opposing side walls are spaced apart to define a channel configured to receive and hold one or more trunk cables therein. The securing mechanism is configured to releasably interlock with a corresponding aperture or slot of the center hub member to secure the respective coiler section member to the center hub member. The assembly is configured such that one or more trunk cables can be wrapped around and held within the channels of the coiler section members.

an arcuate base member having at least one securing mechanism extending radially inward therefrom; and
opposing side walls extend radially outwardly from the base member, the side walls are spaced apart to define a channel configured to receive and hold one or more trunk cables therein,
wherein the at least one securing mechanism is configured to releasably interlock with a corresponding aperture or slot of the center hub member to secure the respective coiler section member to the center hub member,
wherein the cable reel assembly is configured such that one or more trunk cables can be wrapped around and held within the channels of the coiler section members.

2 . The cable reel assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising an annular or ring-shaped cover configured to fit around the coiler section members.

3 . The cable reel assembly according to claim 1 , wherein each aperture of the center hub member has a T-shape which allows a respective securing mechanism of the coiler section member to be received by an upper opening of the aperture or slot and slide within the perpendicular opening of the aperture or slot to engage the respective securing mechanism within the aperture or slot and secure the respective coiler section member to the center hub member.

4 . The cable reel assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the center hub member further comprises a first pair of coupling members extending outwardly from one end of the main body and a second pair of coupling members extending outwardly from an opposing end of the main body.

5 . The cable reel assembly according to claim 4 , wherein the first pair of coupling members of the center hub member is configured to engage with the second pair of coupling members from a second identical center hub member, thereby allowing multiple center hub members to be stacked together.

6 . The cable reel assembly according to claim 4 , wherein the first pair of coupling members are configured to create an interference fit with the second pair of coupling members to secure the first and second center hub members together.

7 . The cable reel assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the main body of the center hub member comprises a snap-fit securing mechanism residing adjacent to each respective aperture or slot in the side walls, the snap-fit securing mechanisms are each configured to engage and hold a respective securing mechanism of the coiler section members within a respective aperture or slot to secure the coiler section member to the center hub member.

8 . The cable reel assembly according to claim 1 , wherein one of the side walls of each coiler section member comprises one or more latching features, and the other side wall of each coiler section member has a greater height from the base member, wherein the difference in height of the side walls creates a stop for when the cover is installed on the cable reel assembly and the one or more latching features are configured to help secure the cover to the cable reel assembly.

9 . The cable reel assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising an anti-theft device, the anti-theft device configured to slide within an open channel within the center hub member and/or the coiler section members.

10 . The cable reel assembly according to claim 1 , wherein each of the side walls of the center hub member comprises at least one aperture or slot, the cable reel assembly further comprising two more coiler section members, each coiler section member secured to a respective side wall of the center hub member.

11 . A cable reel assembly, the cable reel assembly comprising:
a center hub member having a main body with four side walls; four adapter extension members, each adapter extension member coupled to a side wall of the center hub member; four coiler section members, each coiler section member comprising:
an arcuate base member having at least one securing mechanism extending radially inward therefrom; and
a pair of spaced apart side walls extend radially outwardly from the base member, the side walls define a channel configured to receive and hold one or more trunk cables therein,
wherein the at least one securing mechanism is configured to releasably interlock with a corresponding aperture or slot of a respective adapter extension member to secure the respective coiler section member to the adapter extension member; and
four extension support members, each extension support member resides between adjacent coiler section members and are configured to couple the adjacent coiler section members together, wherein the cable reel assembly is configured such that one or more trunk cables can be wrapped around and held within the channels of the coiler section members.
