Abstract
Some embodiments of the present technology may encompass pour in place roofing insulation systems. The insulation systems may include an upper roof surface material that is configured to be vertically spaced apart from the top surface of the roofing structure. The insulation systems may include a plurality of expansion limiters that are configured to extend between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material. The insulation systems may include a polyiso foam insulation material that is configured to be disposed between and filling at least substantially all vertical space between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A pour in place roofing insulation system, comprising:
an upper roof surface material that is configured to be vertically spaced apart from a top surface of a roofing structure; a plurality of expansion limiters that are configured to extend between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material; and a polyiso foam insulation material that is configured to be disposed between and filling at least substantially all vertical space between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material.
2 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 1 , wherein:
each of the plurality of expansion limiters comprises one or both of a string and a wire.
3 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 1 , wherein:
each of the plurality of expansion limiters comprises a vertical standoff.
4 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 3 , wherein:
a length of each vertical standoff is adjustable.
5 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 1 , wherein:
at least some of the plurality of expansion limiters comprise different lengths such that a vertical distance between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material varies across an area of the roofing structure.
6 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 1 , wherein:
the upper roof surface comprises a roofing coverboard.
7 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 1 , wherein:
the polyiso foam insulation material comprises an open cell foam.
8 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 1 , further comprising:
the roofing structure, wherein:
the upper roof surface material is vertically spaced apart from a top surface of the roofing structure;
the plurality of expansion limiters extend between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material; and
the polyiso foam insulation material is disposed between and fills at least substantially all vertical space between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material.
9 . A pour in place roofing insulation system, comprising:
an upper roof surface material that is configured to be vertically spaced apart from a top surface of a roofing structure; at least one vertical support member that is configured to extend at least partially between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material; and a closed cell polyiso foam insulation material that is configured to be disposed between and filling substantially all vertical space between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material.
10 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 9 , wherein:
each of the at least one vertical support member comprises a corrugated material.
11 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 9 , wherein:
each of the at least one vertical support member comprises a honeycomb structure defining a plurality of cells.
12 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 11 , wherein:
each of the at least one vertical support member is oriented such that a length of each of the plurality of cells extends in a vertical direction relative to the roofing structure.
13 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 11 , wherein:
each of the at least one vertical support member is moveable between a collapsed position in which each of the plurality of cells is substantially closed and a support position in which each of the plurality of cells is substantially open.
14 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 11 , wherein:
the polyiso foam insulation material at least substantially fills each of the plurality of cells.
15 . The pour in place roofing insulation system of claim 9 , wherein:
the at least one vertical support member defines a plurality of voids that are at least substantially filled by the polyiso foam insulation material.
16 . A method of installing a roofing insulation system, comprising:
positioning one or more insulation height members atop a roofing structure, wherein a height of the one or more insulation height members setting a final height of the roofing insulation system; positioning an upper roof surface material above the one or more insulation height members; and pouring a polyiso foam between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material such that the polyiso foam fills at least substantially all vertical spaced between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material.
17 . The method of installing a roofing insulation system of claim 16 , wherein:
the one or more insulation height members comprise one or both of a string and a wire; and upon being poured, the polyiso foam expands to lift the upper roof surface away from the roof structure until the one or both of the string and the wire are taut to set a thickness of the polyiso foam.
18 . The method of installing a roofing insulation system of claim 17 , wherein:
the polyiso foam is introduced between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material through an opening formed in the upper roof surface material.
19 . The method of installing a roofing insulation system of claim 16 , wherein:
the one or more insulation height members comprise a honeycomb structure defining a plurality of cells; and pouring the polyiso foam comprises introducing the polyiso foam into each of the plurality of cells.
20 . The method of installing a roofing insulation system of claim 16 , wherein:
at least some of the one or more height adjustment members comprise different lengths such that a vertical distance between the roofing structure and the upper roof surface material varies across an area of the roofing structure.Cited by (0)
