Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an aerosol-forming rod, and according to the present disclosure, it is possible to realize various aerosol-forming product properties, by utilizing the sheet-specific characteristics of each manufacturing process of reconstituted tobacco sheets and mixing two or more types of reconstituted tobacco sheets having different types, different physical properties, or different main components to control the physical properties and taste of the tobacco rod.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of manufacturing an aerosol-forming rod, the method comprising:
 providing leaf tobacco shreds and a reconstituted tobacco which is manufactured by a reconstituted tobacco sheet manufacturing process; and   manufacturing the aerosol-forming rod by using a mixed reconstituted tobacco in which the reconstituted tobacco and the leaf tobacco shreds are mixed at a predetermined mixing ratio,   wherein at least one of rod weight, draw resistance, and filling power of the mixed reconstituted tobacco is controlled according to the predetermined mixing ratio.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein a physical property of the aerosol-generating rod is varied according to the predetermined mixing ratio. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the physical property comprises at least one of thickness, basis weight, porosity and hardness. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the leaf tobacco shreds are at least one selected from the group consisting of flue-cured, burley, oriental, cigar leaf and toasted tobacco. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the reconstituted tobacco sheet manufacturing process is a slurry process. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 . wherein the reconstituted tobacco and the leaf tobacco shreds comprise 5 to 30 wt % of aerosol former based on the dry weight of the aerosol-generating rod. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 . wherein the predetermined mixing ratio includes at least 10% by weight of the leaf tobacco shreds.
