Clamshell packaging container
Abstract
Clamshell packaging containers and methods of making them are disclosed. A container includes a first shell portion and a complementary second shell portion that defines a product cavity. A bridging portion coupled to the first shell portion at a first hinge and the second shell portion at a second hinge such that the bridging portion is pivotable relative to each of the first shell portion at the first hinge and the second shell portion at the second hinge in a disassembled configuration, and is pivotable relative to one of the first shell portion at the first hinge and the second shell portion at the second hinge in an assembled configuration.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 20 . (canceled)
21 . A container comprising:
a first shell portion; a second shell portion sized and shaped to complement the first shell portion to define a product cavity; a bridging portion coupled to the first shell portion at a first hinge and the second shell portion at a second hinge, wherein the bridging portion is pivotable relative to each of the first shell portion at the first hinge and the second shell portion at the second hinge in a disassembled configuration and the bridging portion is pivotable relative to only one of the first shell portion at the first hinge or the second shell portion at the second hinge in an assembled configuration; and a fastener coupled to the bridging portion and to one of the first shell portion or the second shell portion in the assembled configuration.
22 . The container of claim 21 , wherein one of the first shell portion or the second shell portion is sized and shaped to house a product when the container is in an open configuration.
23 . The container of claim 21 , wherein each of the first shell portion and the second shell portion is sized and shaped to house a product when the container is in an open configuration.
24 . The container of claim 21 , further comprising a product comprising a plurality of articles and at least one stadium member shaped to stagger an arrangement of the plurality of articles in the container.
25 . The container of claim 21 , further comprising a product comprising a plurality of articles, wherein the plurality of articles is organized as a side-by-side arrangement of stacks.
26 . The container of claim 25 , wherein each article of the plurality of articles is secured by an article organizing member, and wherein the plurality of articles is secured by an article stack organizing member.
27 . The container of claim 26 , wherein the article organizing member comprises a belly band, and wherein the article stack organizing member comprises a sheath.
28 . The container of claim 25 , wherein the product is coupled to the container.
29 . The container of claim 21 , further comprising at least one securing member releasably coupling the first shell portion to the second shell portion in a closed configuration.
30 . The container of claim 29 , wherein the at least one securing member is configured for audible engagement.
31 . The container of claim 21 , wherein an interior face of at least one of the first shell portion or the second shell portion comprises a branding area.
32 . A method of manufacturing a container, the method comprising:
providing a mold shaped to define: a first shell portion; a second shell portion sized and shaped to complement the first shell portion to define a product cavity; a bridging portion coupled to the first shell portion at a first hinge and the second shell portion at a second hinge, wherein the bridging portion is pivotable relative to each of the first shell portion at the first hinge and the second shell portion at the second hinge in a disassembled configuration and the bridging portion is pivotable relative to only one of the first shell portion at the first hinge or the second shell portion at the second hinge in an assembled configuration; and a tab coupled to the bridging portion and to one of the first shell portion or the second shell portion in the assembled configuration; forming the container using the mold; and coupling the bridging portion to one of the first shell portion or the second shell portion.
33 . The method of claim 32 , wherein one of the first shell portion or the second shell portion is sized and shaped to house a product when the container is in an open configuration.
34 . The method of claim 32 , wherein each of the first shell portion and the second shell portion is sized and shaped to house a product when the container is in an open configuration.
35 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the mold is further shaped to define at least one stadium member shaped to stagger an arrangement of a plurality of articles in the container.
36 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the mold is further shaped to define at least one securing member releasably coupling the first shell portion to the second shell portion in a closed configuration.
37 . The method of claim 36 , wherein the at least one securing member is configured for audible engagement.
38 . The method of claim 32 , further comprising applying a branding area to an interior face of at least one of the first shell portion or the second shell portion.
39 . The method of claim 32 , further comprising filling at least one of the first shell portion or the second shell portion with a product comprising a plurality of articles.
40 . A container comprising:
a first shell portion; a second shell portion sized and shaped to complement the first shell portion to define a product cavity; a bridging portion coupled to the first shell portion at a first hinge and the second shell portion at a second hinge, wherein the bridging portion is pivotable relative to each of the first shell portion at the first hinge and the second shell portion at the second hinge in a disassembled configuration and the bridging portion is pivotable relative to one of the first shell portion at the first hinge or the second shell portion at the second hinge in an assembled configuration, wherein a distance between the first shell portion and the second shell portion is greater in the disassembled configuration than in the assembled configuration; a fastener coupled to the bridging portion and to one of the first shell portion or the second shell portion in the assembled configuration; and at least one stadium member shaped to stagger an arrangement of a plurality of articles associated with a product included in the container.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
