Off-ridge roof ventilation device
Abstract
An off-ridge roof ventilation device for placing on an opening of a roof deck. The ventilation device comprises an elongated main hood with a curved shape. The right end of the main hood is closed by a right-side panel, and the left end of the main hood is closed by a left-side panel. The main hood comprises a perforated top face and a venting opening on a bottom face. A throat panel is placed on the bottom face of the main hood in a manner to reduce the venting opening. A perforated interior panel is placed between the top face of the main hood and the throat panel to eliminate wind driven rain and/or snow even in high wind situations. The perforations are preferably designed as mini-louvers, wherein the mini-louvers of the main hood and the mini-louvers of the throat panel comprise the same shape and count the same number.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A roof ventilation device for placing on an opening of a roof deck, the roof ventilation device comprising:
a throat panel defining a venting opening in the bottom of the roof ventilation device; a baffle coupled to the throat panel to extend away from the roof deck; and a hood positioned over the venting opening and the baffle.
2 . The roof ventilation device of claim 1 , further comprising a flange configured to engage the roof deck.
3 . The roof ventilation device of claim 2 , wherein the hood is coupled to the flange on a first side of the baffle, and wherein the hood extends over the baffle to a second side of the baffle.
4 . The roof ventilation device of claim 3 , wherein the venting opening is defined on the first side of the baffle.
5 . The roof ventilation device of claim 2 , wherein the hood comprises a first end coupled to the flange and a second end defining one or more openings.
6 . The roof ventilation device of claim 1 , further comprising a panel configured to define, in combination with the baffle, an airflow path through the roof ventilation device.
7 . The roof ventilation device of claim 6 , wherein the panel and the hood define one or more openings for the airflow path.
8 . The roof ventilation device of claim 1 , wherein the baffle is coupled to an end of the throat panel to extend towards the hood.
9 . A roof ventilation device for placing on an opening of a roof deck, the roof ventilation device comprising:
a throat panel defining a venting opening in the bottom of the roof ventilation device; a flange configured to secure the roof ventilation device to the roof deck; a hood coupled to the flange to extend over the venting opening and towards the throat panel; and a baffle coupled to the throat panel to extend towards the hood, the baffle positioned such that the hood extends over the baffle and defines one or more openings above the throat panel.
10 . The roof ventilation device of claim 9 , wherein the throat panel comprises an end defining the venting opening, and wherein the baffle is coupled to the end of the throat panel.
11 . The roof ventilation device of claim 9 , wherein the one or more openings comprises perforations defined in the hood.
12 . The roof ventilation device of claim 9 , wherein the hood is shaped to define a varying distance between the hood and the roof deck, the varying distance measured perpendicular to the roof deck.
13 . The roof ventilation device of claim 12 , wherein the varying distance comprises a maximum distance from the roof deck to the hood, and wherein the one or more openings are defined at a distance less than the maximum distance.
14 . The roof ventilation device of claim 9 , wherein the hood comprises a curved shape to define the varying distance.
15 . The roof ventilation device of claim 9 , further comprising a pair of side panels extending from the flange, wherein the hood comprises a first end coupled to the flange and a second end coupled to the pair of side panels.
16 . The roof ventilation device of claim 15 , wherein the flange comprises a rear flange and a pair of side flanges secured together, and wherein the pair of side panels are coupled to the side flanges.
17 . A roof ventilation device comprising:
a throat panel defining a venting opening in the bottom of the roof ventilation device; a flange configured to secure the roof ventilation device to a roof deck, the flange comprising a rear flange portion and a front flange portion; a hood coupled to the rear flange portion and extending over the venting opening towards the front flange portion; a baffle coupled to the throat panel to extend towards the hood, wherein the hood extends over the baffle from the rear flange portion towards the front flange portion; and at least one opening above the throat panel and defined at least partially by the hood.
18 . The roof ventilation device of claim 17 , further comprising side panels coupled to the flange and the hood.
19 . The roof ventilation device of claim 18 , wherein the at least one opening is defined between the side panels, the throat panel, and the hood.
20 . The roof ventilation device of claim 17 , wherein an air space is defined between the baffle and the hood.Cited by (0)
