Abstract
A golf club head with improved striking face is disclosed. For example, the presently disclosed technology may relate to a golf club head including a striking face portion, a body portion, and one or more members. The striking face portion may include a frontal striking surface and an internal rear surface combined to include a thickened central region, located near a geometric center of the striking face portion and a thickened stress reducing region, extending outward radially from the thickened central region. The one or more members may connect one point on the thickened stress reducing region to another point on the thickened stress reducing region.

1 . A golf club head comprising:
a striking face portion, located at a frontal portion of the golf club head, adapted to impact a golf ball; a body portion, attached to a rear of the striking face portion; wherein the striking face portion comprises:
a frontal striking surface, wherein the frontal striking surface is substantially planar, and
an internal rear surface;
wherein the frontal striking surface and the internal rear surface combine to comprise:
a thickened central region, located near a geometric center of the striking face portion, having a first thickness; and
a thickened stress reducing region, extending outward radially from the thickened central region, having a fourth thickness; and
one or more members each connecting one point on the thickened stress reducing region to another point on the thickened stress reducing region.
2 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the fourth thickness is greater than the first thickness.
3 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the golf club head further comprises a void between the one or more members and the striking face portion.
4 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the golf club head further comprises an insert between the one or more members and the striking face portion.
5 . The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein the insert is a polymer.
6 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the golf club head further comprises fasteners to secure the one or more members to the thickened stress reducing region.
7 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the one or more members extend along a vertical direction.
8 . The golf club head of claim 7 , wherein the one or more members are k-shaped.
9 . A golf club head comprising:
a striking face portion, located at a frontal portion of the golf club head, adapted to impact a golf ball; a body portion, attached to a rear of the striking face portion; wherein the striking face portion comprises:
a frontal striking surface, wherein the frontal striking surface is substantially planar, and
an internal rear surface;
wherein the frontal striking surface and the internal rear surface combine to comprise:
a thickened central region, located near a geometric center of the striking face portion, having a first thickness; and
a thickened stress reducing region, extending outward radially from the thickened central region, having a fourth thickness; and
one or more members extending inward from the thickened stress reducing region.
10 . The golf club head of claim 9 , wherein the fourth thickness is greater than the first thickness.
11 . The golf club head of claim 9 , wherein the golf club head further comprises an insert between the one or more members and the striking face portion, and wherein the insert is a polymer.
12 . The golf club head of claim 9 , wherein the golf club head further comprises fasteners to secure the one or more members to the thickened stress reducing region.
13 . The golf club head of claim 12 , wherein the golf club head further comprises a maximum member weight based on at least a weight of the one or more members and a weight of the fasteners, and wherein the maximum member weight is less than about 3.5 g.
14 . The golf club head of claim 9 , wherein the one or more members form a web-like structure with a hole in a middle of the web-like structure.
15 . The golf club head of claim 9 , wherein the one or more members form a h-shape with a hole in a middle of the h-shape.
16 . A golf club head comprising:
a striking face portion, located at a frontal portion of the golf club head, adapted to impact a golf ball; a body portion, attached to a rear of the striking face portion; wherein the striking face portion comprises:
a frontal striking surface, wherein the frontal striking surface is substantially planar, and
an internal rear surface;
wherein the frontal striking surface and the internal rear surface combine to comprise:
a thickened central region, located near a geometric center of the striking face portion, having a first thickness; and
a thickened stress reducing region, extending outward radially from the thickened central region, having a fourth thickness; and
one or more cables each connected from at least one point on the thickened stress reducing region.
17 . The golf club head of claim 16 , wherein the fourth thickness is greater than the first thickness.
18 . The golf club head of claim 16 , wherein the golf club head further comprises a void between the one or more cables and the striking face portion.
19 . The golf club head of claim 16 , wherein the one or more cables are each connected to another point on the thickened stress reducing region.
