Abstract
A golf club head with improved striking face is disclosed. For example, the golf club head may include a body portion, including a pocket, and a striking face portion. The pocket may include a perimeter ledge receiving a gasket bonded thereon. The golf club head may include a face insert bonded to the body portion via the gasket. The face insert may include a thickened central region having a first thickness. The perimeter ledge, gasket, and perimeter of the face insert may combine to create a thickened stress reducing region with a second thickness greater than the first thickness.

1 . A golf club head comprising:
a striking face portion, located at a frontal portion of the golf club head, adapted to impact a golf ball, wherein the striking face portion comprises:
a frontal striking surface, wherein the frontal striking surface comprises an external plane that is substantially planar,
a body portion, attached to a rear of the striking face portion, wherein the body portion comprises a pocket, wherein the pocket comprises a perimeter ledge to receive a gasket, and wherein the perimeter ledge is recessed from the external plane of the striking face; the gasket bonded to the perimeter ledge; a face insert bonded to the body portion via the gasket, wherein the face insert comprises:
a thickened central region located near a geometric center of the striking face portion, having a first thickness, wherein the gasket separates the face insert from the perimeter ledge;
wherein the perimeter ledge, the gasket, and a perimeter of the face insert combine to create a thickened stress reducing region located radially outward from a geometric center of the striking face portion, wherein the thickened stress reducing region protrudes rearward from the face insert, and wherein the thickened stress reducing region has a second thickness that is greater than the first thickness.
2 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the gasket comprises:
an upper gasket height between about 3.0 mm to about 7.0 mm; and a lower gasket height between about 3.0 mm to about 7.0 mm.
3 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the gasket comprises an upper gasket height and a lower gasket height of about 5.0 mm.
4 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the gasket comprises:
an upper gasket thickness between about 0.3 mm to about 0.7 mm; and a lower gasket thickness between about 0.3 mm to about 0.7 mm.
5 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the gasket has a T over H Ratio of between about 0.04 to about 0.23, the T over H ratio defined as

6 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the upper gasket thickness is different than the lower gasket thickness.

9 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the gasket comprises a Young's modulus between about 5 GPa and about 12 GPa.
10 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the gasket comprises a density of less than about 2,000 g/cc.
11 . A golf club head comprising:
a striking face portion, located at a frontal portion of the golf club head, adapted to impact a golf ball, wherein the striking face portion comprises:
a frontal striking surface, wherein the frontal striking surface comprises an external plane that is substantially planar,
a body portion, attached to a rear of the striking face portion, wherein the body portion comprises a pocket, wherein the pocket comprises a perimeter ledge to receive a gasket, and wherein the perimeter ledge is recessed from the external plane of the striking face; the gasket bonded to the perimeter ledge, wherein the gasket has a T over H Ratio of between about 0.04 to about 0.23, the T over H ratio defined as
