Abstract
A firearm mounting plate assembly is provided. The firearm mounting plate assembly includes a firearm slide with a first side, a second side, and a top side. A recess defined by a first slide wall and a recess base surface is disposed on the firearm slide top side. The recess includes a rib. The firearm mounting plate assembly includes a mounting plate with a top surface, a bottom surface, a front side, and a rear side. The mounting plate includes one or more bosses. The mounting plate is configured to secure within the recess of the firearm slide.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWe claim:
1 . A firearm sight mounting plate assembly, comprising:
a firearm slide having a top side, the firearm slide comprising: a recess defined along the top side of the firearm slide, the recess comprising:
a recessed surface extending along the top side of the firearm slide; and
a hook disposed on the recessed surface; and
a mounting plate having a top surface and an opposed bottom surface, the mounting plate comprising:
an aperture extending from the top surface to the bottom surface of the mounting plate; and
a catch disposed within the aperture and configured to engage the hook.
2 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 1 , wherein:
the firearm slide further comprises a rib disposed on the recessed surface; and the mounting plate further comprises a channel defined in the bottom surface of the mounting plate and configured to receive the rib therein.
3 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 2 , wherein:
the rib is disposed between the hook and a front end of the recessed surface; and the channel is disposed between the aperture and a front end of the bottom surface of the mounting plate.
4 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 3 , wherein:
the hook is spaced apart from a rear end of the recessed surface; and the aperture is spaced apart from a rear end of the bottom surface of the mounting plate.
5 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 1 , wherein:
the firearm slide further comprises a slide wall disposed at a rear end of the recess and defining a dovetail slot; and the mounting plate further comprises a ridge disposed adjacent to the bottom surface of the mounting plate and comprising a dovetail configured to engage the dovetail slot.
6 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate further comprises:
one or more bosses extending from the top surface of the mounting plate; and one or more sockets extending from the top surface to the bottom surface of the mounting plate.
7 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate further comprises a sight joint disposed on the top surface and configured to receive an iron sight.
8 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 7 , wherein the sight joint comprises a dovetail slot configured to receive a complementary dovetail portion of the iron sight.
9 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate further comprises wings extending from opposite sides of the mounting plate to facilitate gripping and removal of the mounting plate.
10 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 1 , wherein:
the firearm slide further comprises a firearm slide socket defined in the recessed surface; and the mounting plate further comprises a mounting plate socket configured to align with the firearm slide socket when the catch engages the hook.
11 . The firearm sight mounting plate assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mounting plate is configured as a universal mount for mounting different types of red dot sights thereon.
12 . A firearm sight mounting system, comprising:
a firearm slide having a recessed surface; and a mounting plate having a top surface and a bottom surface; wherein the firearm slide comprises a hook disposed on the recessed surface; wherein the mounting plate comprises:
an aperture extending from the top surface to the bottom surface; and
a catch disposed within the aperture and configured to selectively engage and disengage the hook to secure the mounting plate to the firearm slide in an engaged position and allow removal of the mounting plate from the firearm slide in a disengaged position.
13 . The firearm sight mounting system of claim 12 , wherein the catch is movable within the aperture between a locked position where the catch engages the hook and an unlocked position where the catch disengages from the hook.
14 . The firearm sight mounting system of claim 13 , wherein the firearm slide further comprises a slide wall disposed at a rear end of the recessed surface and defining a dovetail slot, and wherein the mounting plate further comprises a ridge disposed adjacent to the bottom surface of the mounting plate and comprising a dovetail configured to engage the dovetail slot.
15 . The firearm sight mounting system of claim 12 , wherein the hook extends upwardly from the recessed surface and comprises an engagement surface configured to interface with the catch.
16 . The firearm sight mounting system of claim 15 , wherein the engagement surface of the hook is angled to facilitate insertion of the mounting plate onto the firearm slide.
17 . The firearm sight mounting system of claim 12 , wherein the firearm slide further comprises a rib extending along the recessed surface, and wherein the mounting plate further comprises a channel defined in the bottom surface and configured to receive the rib to provide alignment between the mounting plate and the firearm slide.
18 . The firearm sight mounting system of claim 17 , wherein the hook is spaced apart from a rear end of the recessed surface, and the aperture is spaced apart from a rear end of the bottom surface of the mounting plate.
19 . The firearm sight mounting system of claim 18 , wherein the hook is positioned adjacent to the rib on the recessed surface.
20 . The firearm sight mounting system of claim 12 , wherein the mounting plate is configured to support an optical sight, and wherein the hook and catch connection provides tool-free attachment and removal of the mounting plate while maintaining secure retention during firearm operation.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
