Abstract

Processes and facilities for producing a recycled content organic chemical compound directly or indirectly from waste plastic. Processing schemes are described herein for converting waste plastic (or hydrocarbon having recycled content derived from waste plastic) into useful intermediate chemicals and final products. In some aspects. recycled content aromatics (r-aromatics) can be processed to provide recycled content paraxylene (r-paraxylene), which can then be used to provide recycled content terephthalic acid (r-TPA) and/or recycled content polyethylene terephthalate (r-PET).

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A process for producing at least one recycled content organic chemical compound, said process comprising:
 (a) processing at least one recycled content hydrocarbon (r-hydrocarbon) stream to provide a recycled content steam cracker feed (r-steam cracker feed) stream to a steam cracking facility, wherein said processing includes at least one of the following steps (i) through (iii)—
 (i) wherein the r-hydrocarbon stream comprises recycled content pyrolysis oil (r-pyoil) and the processing comprises contacting the r-hydrocarbon stream with hydrogen in a hydroprocessing facility to provide a first recycled content light gas (r-light gas) stream and a hydroprocessed r-pyoil stream;
(ii) wherein the r-hydrocarbon stream comprises a recycled content naphtha (r-naphtha) stream and the processing comprises reforming the r-hydrocarbon stream in a reformer unit to provide a recycled content reformate (r-reformate) stream and a second recycled content light gas (r-light gas) stream, and
(iii) wherein the r-hydrocarbon stream comprises recycled content C6 to C10 aromatics (r-C6 to C10 aromatics) and the processing comprises separating the r-hydrocarbon stream to provide a recycled content benzene, toluene, and xylene (r-BTX) stream and a recycled content raffinate (r-raffinate) stream; and
   (b) introducing at least a portion of the r-steam cracker feed stream into the steam cracking facility, wherein the r-steam cracker feed includes at least a portion of one or more of the first r-light gas stream, the second r-light gas stream, and the r-raffinate stream.

2 . The process of claim 1 , wherein the r-steam cracker feed includes at least a portion of two (or all) of the first r-light gas stream, the second r-light gas stream, and the r-raffinate stream.

3 . The process of claim 1 , wherein the r-steam cracker feed includes at least a portion of the first r-light gas stream and the second r-light gas stream.

4 . The process of claim 1 , wherein the r-steam cracker feed includes at least a portion of the r-raffinate stream.

5 . The process of claim 1 , wherein the processing includes step (i) and said r-steam cracker feed comprises at least a portion of the first r-light gas stream.

6 . The process of claim 5 , wherein the r-pyoil is derived from pyrolysis of waste plastic.

7 . The process of claim 5 , further comprising processing at least a portion of the hydroprocessed r-pyoil stream into a reformer to provide a recycled content reformate (r-reformate).

8 . The process of claim 7 , wherein the reformer further processes at least one additional naphtha stream.

9 . The process of claim 8 , wherein the additional naphtha comprises recycled content naphtha.

10 . The process of claim 8 , wherein the additional naphtha comprises non recycled content naphtha.

11 . The process of claim 10 , wherein the reformer further processes r-raffinate from an aromatics complex.

12 . The process of claim 5 , wherein the hydrogen comprises recycled content hydrogen (r-H2).

13 . The process of claim 5 , wherein the hydroprocessing comprises hydrotreating.

14 . The process of claim 5 , wherein the hydroprocessing comprises hydrocracking.

15 . The process of claim 14 , wherein the r-pyoil comprises at least 15 weight percent of C10 and heavier components and the hydroprocessed r-pyoil comprises less than 15 weight percent of C10 and heavier components.

16 . The process of claim 5 , wherein the first r-light gas comprises at least 75 weight percent of C3 and lighter components.

17 . The process of claim 5 , wherein the first r-light gas comprises less than 25 weight percent of C5 and heavier components.

18 . The process of claim 5 , wherein the first r-light gas stream comprises at least 55 weight percent of C4 and lighter components.

19 . The process of claim 5 , wherein the first r-light gas stream comprises at least 25 weight percent of C3 olefins.
