Customizable Modular Firearm Grip

Abstract

A device implementable on a firearm includes a modular grip having a main body, a first piece and a second piece. A first side of the main body attaches to a slide assembly or receiver of the firearm. A second side of the main body opposite the first side attaches to the first piece or both the first and second pieces. When the main body, first piece and second piece are installed together to form the modular grip, the first piece and the second piece constitute a pistol grip portion of the modular grip. The first piece is selected from a plurality of first pieces of different dimensions to affect a length, a thickness or both the length and the thickness of the pistol grip portion. The second piece is selected from a plurality of second pieces of different dimensions to affect a width of the pistol grip portion.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A device implementable on a firearm, comprising:
 a modular grip comprising a main body, a first piece and a second piece, wherein:
 a first side of the main body is configured to attach to a slide assembly or receiver of the firearm; 
 a second side of the main body opposite the first side is configured to attach to the first piece or both the first piece and the second piece; 
 when the main body, the first piece and the second piece are installed together to form the modular grip, the first piece and the second piece constitute a pistol grip portion of the modular grip; 
 the first piece is selected from a plurality of first pieces of different dimensions to affect a length, a thickness or both the length and the thickness of the pistol grip portion; and 
 the second piece is selected from a plurality of second pieces of different dimensions to affect a width of the pistol grip portion. 
   
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the first piece is attached to the main body via a T slot, dovetail or male/female mechanism. 
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 2 , wherein the first piece is also at least partially secured to the main body via a secondary tab on the main body. 
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 3 , wherein the T slot, dovetail or male/female mechanism is located on a left side or a right side, or both the left and right sides, with respect to the modular grip, and wherein the secondary tab is located on a front side with respect to the modular grip. 
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the second piece is attached to the main body or the first piece or both the main body and the first piece via a T slot, dovetail or male/female mechanism. 
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 5 , wherein the T slot, dovetail or male/female mechanism is located on a back or rear side with respect to the modular grip. 
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 5 , wherein the second piece is also at least partially secured to the main body or the first piece or both the main body and the first piece via a tab, lock bar, fastener, pin or a type of connector. 
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein at least one portion of the first piece is configured with a texture that enhances a roughness of the at least one portion of the first piece while an adjoining portion of the main body has no rough texture. 
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein at least one portion of the second piece is configured with a texture that enhances a roughness of the at least one portion of the second piece while an adjoining portion of the main body has no rough texture. 
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein at least one portion of the first piece is configured with a first texture that enhances a roughness of the at least one portion of the first piece, wherein at least one portion of the second piece is configured with a second texture that enhances a roughness of the at least one portion of the second piece, wherein an adjoining portion of the main body has no rough texture, and wherein the first texture and the second texture are same or different. 
     
     
         11 . An apparatus implementable on a firearm, comprising:
 an action portion of the firearm comprising a slide assembly, an upper receiver or a receiver; and   a modular grip comprising a main body, a first piece and a second piece, wherein:
 a first side of the main body is configured to attach to the action portion of the firearm; 
 a second side of the main body opposite the first side is configured to attach to the first piece or both the first piece and the second piece; 
 when the main body, the first piece and the second piece are installed together to form the modular grip, the first piece and the second piece constitute a pistol grip portion of the modular grip; 
 the first piece is selected from a plurality of first pieces of different dimensions to affect a length, a thickness or both the length and the thickness of the pistol grip portion; and 
 the second piece is selected from a plurality of second pieces of different dimensions to affect a width of the pistol grip portion. 
   
     
     
         12 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the first piece is attached to the main body via a T slot, dovetail or male/female mechanism. 
     
     
         13 . The apparatus of  claim 12 , wherein the first piece is also at least partially secured to the main body via a secondary tab on the main body. 
     
     
         14 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein the T slot, dovetail or male/female mechanism is located on a left side or a right side, or both the left and right sides, with respect to the modular grip, and wherein the secondary tab is located on a front side with respect to the modular grip. 
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the second piece is attached to the main body or the first piece or both the main body and the first piece via a T slot, dovetail or male/female mechanism. 
     
     
         16 . The apparatus of  claim 15 , wherein the T slot, dovetail or male/female mechanism is located on a back or rear side with respect to the modular grip. 
     
     
         17 . The apparatus of  claim 15 , wherein the second piece is also at least partially secured to the main body or the first piece or both the main body and the first piece via a tab, lock bar, fastener, pin or a type of connector. 
     
     
         18 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein at least one portion of the first piece is configured with a texture that enhances a roughness of the at least one portion of the first piece while an adjoining portion of the main body has no rough texture. 
     
     
         19 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein at least one portion of the second piece is configured with a texture that enhances a roughness of the at least one portion of the second piece while an adjoining portion of the main body has no rough texture. 
     
     
         20 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein at least one portion of the first piece is configured with a first texture that enhances a roughness of the at least one portion of the first piece, wherein at least one portion of the second piece is configured with a second texture that enhances a roughness of the at least one portion of the second piece, wherein an adjoining portion of the main body has no rough texture, and wherein the first texture and the second texture are same or different.
