Abstract

A ventilation system for a tile roof includes an elongated vent body defining a channel and securing features integrated with and extending from each side of the elongated vent body, where the securing features are configured to engage with a roof deck of the tile roof. The ventilation system further includes a support member received in the channel of the elongated vent body.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A ventilation system for a tile roof, the ventilation system comprising:
an elongated vent body defined by an integral V-shaped body having a length, the elongated vent body forming a channel extending along the length to receive a support member along the entire length; a first securing feature integrated with and extending from a first side of the elongated vent body with no elements formed between the V-shaped body and the first securing feature, wherein the first securing feature is configured to engage a roof deck; and a second securing feature integrated with and extending from a second side of the elongated vent body with no elements formed between the V-shaped body and the second securing feature, wherein the second securing feature is configured to engage the roof deck.

2 . The ventilation system of claim 1 , further comprising the support member, wherein the support member is substantially received within the channel.

3 . The ventilation system of claim 1 , wherein the first securing feature comprises a first plurality of integral tabs extending from the first side of the elongated vent body.

4 . The ventilation system of claim 3 , wherein the second securing feature comprises a second plurality of integral tabs extending from the second side of the elongated vent body.

5 . The ventilation system of claim 4 , wherein the first plurality of integral tabs extends from the first side in a spaced relationship along the length, and wherein the second plurality of integral tabs extends from the second side in the spaced relationship.

6 . The ventilation system of claim 1 , further comprising a nonwoven material engaged with opposing sides of the elongated vent body.

7 . The ventilation system of claim 6 , wherein the nonwoven material engages the first securing feature and the second securing feature.

8 . The ventilation system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a first upward facing panel defining the elongated vent body; a second upward facing panel defining the elongated vent body; a first set of apertures defined in the first upward facing panel; and a second set of apertures defined in the second upward facing panel.

9 . The ventilation system of claim 8 , wherein the first upward facing panel extends downwardly from the channel towards the first securing feature, and wherein the second upward facing panel extends downwardly from the channel towards the second securing feature.

10 . The ventilation system of claim 8 , further comprising a mesh provided over the first set of apertures and the second set of apertures.

11 . The ventilation system of claim 1 , wherein the support member is a board.

12 . A method of manufacturing a ventilation system for a tile roof, the method comprising:
deforming a single piece of material to form an elongated vent body defining an integral V-shaped body having a length, the elongated vent body forming a channel extending along the length; forming, from the single piece of material, a first securing feature extending from a first side of the elongated vent body with no elements formed between the V-shaped body and the first securing feature; forming, from the single piece of material, a second securing feature extending from a second side of the elongated vent body with no elements formed between the V-shaped body and the second securing feature; and placing a support member substantially within the channel of the elongated vent body, the support member extending the entire length of the elongated vent body.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein forming the first securing feature and forming the second securing feature comprises bending the single piece of material to create respective flanges extending from the elongated vent body.

14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising removing material from the respective flanges, leaving a plurality of integral tabs extending from each side of the elongated vent body.

15 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising determining a depth of the channel based at least on characteristics of one or more tiles of the tile roof, wherein deforming the single piece of material to form the elongated vent body comprises forming the channel with the depth.

16 . A ventilation system for a tile roof, the ventilation system comprising:
an elongated vent body defined by an integral V-shaped body having a length, the elongated vent body forming a channel extending along the length; a first plurality of integral tabs extending from a first side of the elongated vent body with no elements formed between the V-shaped body and the first plurality of integral tabs; a second plurality of integral tabs extending from a second side of the elongated vent body with no elements formed between the V-shaped body and the second plurality of integral tabs, wherein the first plurality of integral tabs, the second plurality of integral tabs, and the elongated vent body are formed from a single piece of material; and a support member substantially received in the channel and extending the entire length of the elongated vent body.

17 . The ventilation system of claim 16 , further comprising:
a first sidewall extending from the first plurality of integral tabs to define the first side; and a second sidewall extending from the second plurality of integral tabs to define the second side, wherein the first sidewall and the second sidewall angle away from each other to define the V-shaped body.

18 . The ventilation system of claim 17 , further comprising:
a first panel extending from the first sidewall to the channel; a second panel extending from the second sidewall to the channel; and one or more apertures defined in each of the first panel and the second panel.

19 . The ventilation system of claim 18 , wherein the first panel extends downwardly from the channel towards the first plurality of integral tabs, and wherein the second panel extends downwardly from the channel towards the second plurality of integral tabs.

20 . The ventilation system of claim 17 , further comprising a nonwoven material engaged with the first sidewall and the second sidewall.
