Abstract
A drink cup includes a body formed to include an interior region providing a fluid-holding reservoir and a brim. The brim is coupled to the body to form an opening into the interior region. The body includes a floor and a sidewall that extends away from the floor. The drink cup further includes a body-strengthening system coupled to the body.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
2 . A drink cup comprising
a body including a floor and a side wall coupled to the floor to extend upwardly away from the floor and spaced from a central axis to define an interior region configured to provide a fluid-holding reservoir, the side wall including a lower portion and an upper portion each spaced apart from one another vertically along the central axis, a brim coupled to the body to locate the side wall between the brim and the floor and formed to include an opening into the interior region, and a strengthening unit located between the lower portion of the side wall and the upper portion of the side wall, the strengthening unit including a first strip and a second strip spaced apart from and vertically above the first strip, wherein a radially innermost edge of the first strip is a first distance from the central axis and a radially innermost edge of the second strip is a second distance from the central axis, the second distance being greater than the first distance.
3 . The drink cup of claim 2 , wherein the strengthening unit further includes a band located between and interconnecting the first strip and the second strip.
4 . The drink cup of claim 3 , wherein a radially innermost edge of the band is a third distance from the central axis, and wherein the third distance is greater than the first distance.
5 . The drink cup of claim 4 , wherein the third distance is greater than a fourth distance from the central axis to the lower portion of the side wall.
6 . The drink cup of claim 3 , wherein the first strip has a first height defined along the central axis, the second strip has a second height defined along the central axis, and the band has a third height defined along the central axis, and wherein the third height is greater than the first and second heights.
7 . The drink cup of claim 2 , further comprising a stack shoulder located between the upper portion of the side wall and the brim.
8 . The drink cup of claim 7 , wherein an upper end of the strengthening unit is spaced a first spacing from the stack shoulder and a lower end of the strengthening unit is spaced a second spacing from the floor, the first spacing being less than the second spacing.
9 . The drink cup of claim 2 , wherein the lower portion of the side wall increases in diameter constantly as the lower portion extends toward the strengthening unit.
10 . The drink cup of claim 2 , wherein the strengthening unit is located above a point located halfway between the floor and the brim along the central axis.
11 . The drink cup of claim 10 , further comprising a stack shoulder located between the upper portion of the side wall and the brim.
12 . The drink cup of claim 11 , wherein the stack shoulder is located closer to the brim than the point located halfway between the floor and the brim along the central axis.
13 . A drink cup comprising
a body including a floor and a side wall coupled to the floor to extend upwardly away from the floor and spaced from a central axis to define an interior region configured to provide a fluid-holding reservoir, the side wall including a lower portion and an upper portion each spaced apart from one another vertically along the central axis, a brim coupled to the body to locate the side wall between the brim and the floor and formed to include an opening into the interior region, and a strengthening unit located between the lower portion of the side wall and the upper portion of the side wall above a point located halfway between the floor and the brim along the central axis, the strengthening unit including a first strip and a second strip spaced apart from and above the first strip, wherein a radially innermost edge of the first strip is a first distance from the central axis and a radially innermost edge of the second strip is a second distance from the central axis, the second distance being greater than the first distance.
14 . The drink cup of claim 13 , wherein the strengthening unit further includes a band located between and interconnecting the first strip and the second strip.
15 . The drink cup of claim 14 , wherein a radially innermost edge of the band is a third distance from the central axis, and wherein the third distance is greater than the first distance.
16 . The drink cup of claim 15 , wherein the third distance is greater than a fourth distance from the central axis to the lower portion of the side wall.
17 . The drink cup of claim 14 , wherein the first strip has a first height defined along the central axis, the second strip has a second height defined along the central axis, and the band has a third height defined along the central axis, and wherein the third height is greater than the first and second heights.
18 . The drink cup of claim 13 , further comprising a stack shoulder located between the upper portion of the side wall and the brim.
19 . The drink cup of claim 18 , wherein an upper end of the strengthening unit is spaced a first spacing from the stack shoulder and a lower end of the strengthening unit is spaced a second spacing from the floor, the first spacing being less than the second spacing.
20 . The drink cup of claim 18 , wherein the stack shoulder is located closer to the brim than the point located halfway between the floor and the brim along the central axis.
21 . The drink cup of claim 13 , wherein the lower portion of the side wall increases in diameter constantly as the lower portion extends toward the strengthening unit.Cited by (0)
