Abstract

A valve body extension including an in-wall rough assembly fluidly coupled to an extension valve assembly. The in-wall rough assembly includes a rough valve body receiving an adapter. The extension valve assembly includes an extension valve body receiving a valve cartridge. A diverter valve assembly may be fluidly coupled to the extension valve assembly.

1 . A valve body extension comprising:
 an in-wall rough assembly including:
 a rough valve body including a chamber, a hot water port, a cold water port and a mixed water port, and 
 an adapter received within the chamber of the rough valve body and including a hot water passageway in fluid communication with the hot water port, a cold water passageway in fluid communication with the cold water port, and a mixed water passageway in fluid communication with the mixed water port; 
 an extension valve assembly including: 
 an extension valve body including a chamber, a hot water inlet, a cold water inlet and a mixed water outlet, and 
 a valve cartridge received within the chamber of the extension valve body and in fluid communication with the hot water inlet, the cold water inlet and the mixed water outlet, the valve cartridge including a movable valve member configured to control water flow from the hot water inlet and the cold water inlet to the mixed water outlet; 
   a hot water line fluidly coupling the hot water passageway of the adapter of the in-wall rough assembly and the hot water inlet of the extension valve body;   a cold water line fluidly coupling the cold water passageway of the adapter of the in-wall rough assembly and the cold water inlet of the extension valve body; and   a mixed water line fluidly coupling the mixed water passageway of the adapter of the in-wall rough assembly and the mixed water outlet of the extension valve body.   
     
     
         2 . The valve body extension of  claim 1 , wherein the mixed water port of the rough valve body is in fluid communication with a first water outlet and a second water outlet, the first water outlet is in fluid communication with an overhead showerhead, and the second water outlet is in fluid communication with a spout. 
     
     
         3 . The valve body extension of  claim 2 , further comprising an aspirator received within the rough valve body, and a diverter valve fluidly coupled to the spout. 
     
     
         4 . The valve body extension of  claim 1 , further comprising a diverter valve assembly fluidly coupled to the extension valve assembly. 
     
     
         5 . The valve body extension of  claim 4 , wherein the diverter valve assembly includes:
 a diverter valve body including a mixed water inlet, a first water outlet and a second water outlet; and   a diverter valve cartridge received within the diverter valve body and configured to provide selective fluid communication between the mixed water inlet and the first water outlet and the second water outlet.   
     
     
         6 . The valve body extension of  claim 4 , wherein one of the first water outlet and the second water outlet of the diverter valve body is in selective fluid communication with an overhead showerhead and a spout. 
     
     
         7 . The valve body extension of  claim 1 , wherein the valve cartridge received within the chamber of the extension valve body comprises a mixing valve. 
     
     
         8 . The valve body extension of  claim 7 , further comprising a handle operably coupled to the movable valve member of the valve cartridge. 
     
     
         9 . The valve body extension of  claim 1 , further comprising a cover operably coupled to the in-wall rough assembly and the extension valve assembly. 
     
     
         10 . The valve body extension of  claim 9 , wherein the cover includes an upper surface defining a shelf. 
     
     
         11 . A valve body extension comprising:
 an in-wall rough assembly including:
 an adapter including a hot water passageway in fluid communication with the hot water port, a cold water passageway in fluid communication with the cold water port, and a mixed water passageway in fluid communication with the mixed water port; and 
   an extension valve assembly including:
 an extension valve body fluidly coupled to the in-wall rough assembly, the extension valve body including a chamber, a hot water inlet, a cold water inlet and a mixed water outlet, and 
 a valve cartridge received within the chamber of the extension valve body and in fluid communication with the hot water inlet, the cold water inlet and the mixed water outlet; and 
   a diverter valve assembly fluidly coupled to the extension valve assembly.   
     
     
         12 . The valve body extension of  claim 11 , further comprising:
 a hot water line fluidly coupling the hot water passageway of the adapter of the in-wall rough assembly and the hot water inlet of the extension valve body;   a cold water line fluidly coupling the cold water passageway of the adapter of the in-wall rough assembly and the cold water inlet of the extension valve body; and   a mixed water line fluidly coupling the mixed water passageway of the adapter of the in-wall rough assembly and the mixed water outlet of the extension valve body.   
     
     
         13 . The valve body extension of  claim 11 , wherein the in-wall rough assembly further includes a rough valve body including a chamber, a hot water port, a cold water port and a mixed water port, the adapter received within the chamber of the rough valve body. 
     
     
         14 . The valve body extension of  claim 13 , wherein the mixed water port of the rough valve body is in fluid communication with a first water outlet and a second water outlet, the first water outlet in fluid communication with an overhead showerhead, and the second water outlet in fluid communication with a spout. 
     
     
         15 . The valve body extension of  claim 14 , further comprising an aspirator received within the rough valve body, and a diverter valve fluidly coupled to the spout. 
     
     
         16 . The valve body extension of  claim 11 , wherein the diverter valve assembly includes:
 a diverter valve body including a mixed water inlet, a first water outlet, a second water outlet and a third water outlet; and   a diverter valve cartridge received within the diverter valve body and configured to provide selective fluid communication between the mixed water inlet and the first water outlet, the second water outlet and the third water outlet.   
     
     
         17 . The valve body extension of  claim 16 , wherein one of the first water outlet, the second water outlet and the third water outlet of the diverter valve body is in selective fluid communication with an overhead showerhead and a spout. 
     
     
         18 . The valve body extension of  claim 11 , wherein the valve cartridge received within the chamber of the extension valve body comprises a mixing valve. 
     
     
         19 . The valve body extension of  claim 18 , further comprising a handle operably coupled to the valve cartridge. 
     
     
         20 . A valve body extension comprising:
 an in-wall rough assembly including:
 an adapter including a hot water passageway in fluid communication with the hot water port, a cold water passageway in fluid communication with the cold water port, and a mixed water passageway in fluid communication with the mixed water port; and 
   an extension valve assembly including:
 an extension valve body including a chamber, a hot water inlet, a cold water inlet and a mixed water outlet, and 
 a valve cartridge received within the chamber of the extension valve body and in fluid communication with the hot water inlet, the cold water inlet and the mixed water outlet, the valve cartridge including a movable valve member configured to control water flow from the hot water inlet and the cold water inlet to the mixed water outlet; 
   a diverter valve assembly fluidly coupled to the extension valve assembly; and   wherein the diverter valve assembly includes:
 a diverter valve body including a mixed water inlet, a first water outlet and a second water outlet; and 
 a diverter valve cartridge received within the diverter valve body and configured to provide selective fluid communication between the mixed water inlet and at least one of the first water outlet and the second water outlet. 
   
     
     
         21 . The valve body extension of  claim 20 , further comprising:
 a hot water line fluidly coupling the hot water passageway of the adapter of the in-wall rough assembly and the hot water inlet of the extension valve body;   a cold water line fluidly coupling the cold water passageway of the adapter of the in-wall rough assembly and the cold water inlet of the extension valve body; and   a mixed water line fluidly coupling the mixed water passageway of the adapter of the in-wall rough assembly and the mixed water outlet of the extension valve body.   
     
     
         22 . The valve body extension of  claim 20 , wherein the in-wall rough assembly further includes a rough valve body including a chamber, a hot water port, a cold water port and a mixed water port, the adapter received within the chamber of the rough valve body. 
     
     
         23 . The valve body extension of  claim 20 , wherein one of the first water outlet and the second water outlet of the diverter valve body is in selective fluid communication with an overhead showerhead and a spout. 
     
     
         24 . The valve body extension of  claim 20 , wherein the valve cartridge received within the chamber of the extension valve body comprises a mixing valve. 
     
     
         25 . A valve body extension comprising:
 a valve body including a chamber, a hot water port and a cold water port;   an adapter received within the chamber of the valve body and including a hot water passageway in fluid communication with the hot water port, and a cold water passageway in fluid communication with the cold water port;   at least one valve including a hot water inlet and a cold water inlet in fluid communication with the adapter;   a hot water line fluidly coupling the hot water passageway of the adapter and the hot water inlet of the at least one valve; and   a cold water line fluidly coupling the cold water passageway of the adapter and the cold water inlet of the at least one valve.   
     
     
         26 . The valve body extension of  claim 25 , wherein the at least one valve includes a hot water valve, and a cold water valve positioned in parallel to the hot water valve. 
     
     
         27 . The valve body extension of  claim 26 , further comprising a flow control valve positioned in series with the hot water valve and the cold water valve, the flow control valve configured to control the flow rate of water. 
     
     
         28 . The valve body extension of  claim 25 , wherein the at least one valve includes a mixing valve configured to control the temperature of water. 
     
     
         29 . The valve body extension of  claim 28 , further comprising a flow control valve positioned in series with the mixing valve, the flow control valve configured to control the flow rate of water.
