Container with a peelable lid having a frangible seal and method of manufacture

Abstract

A container body with a peelable lid having a frangible seal including a container body made of an opening having a rim with a polymer lining, a cavity, a body wall, and a closed end. The container body also includes a lid sealed to the rim of the open end of the container body; and a pull tab.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A container body with a peelable lid having a frangible seal comprising:
 a container body comprised of an opening having a rim with a polymer lining, a cavity, a body wall, and a closed end;   a lid sealed to the rim of the open end of the container body; and   a pull tab.   
     
     
         2 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the container body is further comprised of:
 a filter disc disposed within the cavity of the container body;   a formed filter material adhered to an interior of the body wall of the container body; and   a beverage material within the formed filter material.   
     
     
         3 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the container body is comprised of an aluminum material. 
     
     
         4 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the container body is comprised of a recycled material. 
     
     
         5 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the rim comprises a layer of adhesive. 
     
     
         6 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the lid comprises a plurality of layers of materials. 
     
     
         7 . The container body of  claim 6 , wherein the multiple layers of materials comprise one or more of a paper layer, an adhesive layer, and a polymer layer. 
     
     
         8 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the pull tab extends across an entirety of the lid. 
     
     
         9 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the pull tab is configured to sit flush with the body wall. 
     
     
         10 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the body wall comprises a perforation configured to transform into a pull tab as a function of an applied force. 
     
     
         11 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the rim is configured to form a lip with a ridge at the opening of the container. 
     
     
         12 . The container body of  claim 11 , wherein the ridge extends from the container body. 
     
     
         13 . The container body of  claim 11 , wherein the ridge is recessed within the open end of the container body. 
     
     
         14 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the body wall is curved in shape. 
     
     
         15 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the lid comprises a top side and an underside. 
     
     
         16 . The container body of  claim 15 , wherein the underside comprises a polymer coating. 
     
     
         17 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the rim comprises a first rim and a second rim. 
     
     
         18 . The container body of  claim 17 , wherein the first rim is smaller in width than the second rim. 
     
     
         19 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein a diameter of the rim is between 45 mm and 55 mm. 
     
     
         20 . The container body of  claim 1 , wherein the lid is die-cut from roll-stock lidding.
