Abstract
A lock assembly for securing a wear member to a support structure includes a collar and a pin. The collar includes a top surface, a bottom surface opposite the top surface, an outer circumferential profile including at least eight planar surfaces extending around a perimeter of the collar between the top and bottom surfaces, and a bore extending along a central axis from the top surface to the bottom surface. The pin is configured for receipt in the bore of the collar.

41 . A wear member for excavating equipment, comprising:
a leading edge; an upper leg extending rearward away from the leading edge; a passage extending through the upper leg from a top surface of the wear member; and a fixation base recess formed into a lower side of the upper leg and extending through a rear surface of the upper leg, the fixation base recess extending laterally between two opposing slots that extend forward from the rear surface of the upper leg, each of the two slots having a lower surface angled downward toward each other, the fixation base recess configured to receive a fixation base secured to a lip of excavating equipment, wherein a portion of a bottom surface of the upper leg below each of the two slots forms a planar contact surface configured to engage the lip, each portion of the bottom surface extending along a majority of a length of the upper leg.
42 . The wear member of claim 41 , further comprising a pry surface extending between the rear surface of the upper leg and a ceiling of the fixation base recess.
43 . The wear member of claim 41 , comprising at least one pry surface extending between the top surface of the wear member and a surface defining the passage.
44 . The wear member of claim 41 , further comprising a lock recess extending upward from a ceiling of the fixation base recess to the passage.
45 . The wear member of claim further comprising at least one pocket formed into a wall of the lock recess.
46 . The wear member of claim 44 , wherein opposing walls of the lock recess are tapered inward with respect to a central axis of the passage toward the top surface of the wear member.
47 . The wear member of claim 44 , wherein a circumferential profile of the lock recess is defined in part by a plurality of curved surfaces.
48 . The wear member of claim 44 , wherein the lock recess has an irregular circumferential profile including a plurality of minor arcs each having a radius of curvature different than each other minor arc of the plurality of minor arcs.
49 . The wear member of claim 48 , wherein the lock recess comprises a notch extending forward away from a central axis of the passage.
50 . The wear member of claim 41 , wherein a circumferential profile of the lock recess includes at least eight sides.
51 . The wear member of claim 44 , wherein a rear wall of the lock recess is angled with respect to a central axis of the passage.
52 . The wear member of claim 51 , wherein the rear wall is angled at approximately 1-20° with respect to the central axis of the passage.
53 . The wear member of claim 44 , wherein a front wall of the lock recess and a rear wall of the lock recess are tapered toward a central axis of the passage.
54 . The wear member of claim 41 , further comprising a lower leg extending rearward away from the leading edge, the wear member including a transverse channel formed between the upper leg and the lower leg, the transverse channel configured to receive the lip.
55 . The wear member of claim 54 , further comprising a contact pad formed in the transverse channel, the contact pad configured to engage a front surface of the lip.
56 . The wear member of claim 54 , wherein a portion of the lower leg is shaped to lie adjacent a bottom surface of the lip may and a portion of the upper leg is configured to engage an upper surface of the lip, wherein the portion of the lower leg is angled at approximately 10-20° with respect to the portion of the upper leg.
57 . The wear member of claim 54 , wherein the portion of the upper leg configured to engage the lip is substantially parallel to the portion of the lower leg adjacent the lip.
58 . The wear member of claim 41 , wherein a central region of the upper leg has an increased vertical profile relative to portions of the upper leg on each lateral side of the central region.
59 . The wear member of claim 58 , wherein a raised region is formed in the top surface of the upper leg in the central region, the passage extending through the raised region.
60 . The wear member of claim wherein each of the two slots extend forward beyond a front wall of the lock recess, the two slots being longitudinally angled inward toward one another from the rear surface.
61 . A fixation base comprising:
a bottom surface; a top surface; a central opening extending through the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the central opening is bounded at a front side by a lock wall configured to engage a portion of a lock; and opposing first and second wings, each of the first and second wings extending upward and laterally outward away from the central opening, the first and second wings being angled apart toward a rear side of the fixation base and having a lower surface angled downward toward the central opening.
62 . The fixation base of claim 61 , further comprising a rear opening extending through the top surface and the bottom surface in an extension extending from a rear side of the fixation base, the rear opening separated from the central opening by a lateral wall.
63 . The fixation base of claim 62 , wherein a rear wall of the extension includes a pry surface extending between a top surface of the rear wall and a front surface of the rear wall, and wherein the lateral wall includes a pry surface extending between a top surface of the lateral wall and a front surface of the lateral wall.
64 . A wear member assembly comprising:
a fixation base disposed on a lip and positioned behind a leading edge of the lip, the fixation base comprising:
a bottom surface;
a top surface;
a central opening extending through the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the central opening is bounded at a front side by a lock wall configured to engage a portion of a lock; and
opposing first and second wings, each of the first and second wings extending upward and laterally outward away from the central opening, the first and second wings being angled apart toward a rear side of the fixation base and having a lower surface angled downward toward the central opening;
a wear member comprising:
a leading edge;
an upper leg extending rearward away from the leading edge;
a passage extending through the upper leg from a top surface of the wear member;
a lock recess extending upward from a bottom side of the upper leg to the passage; and
a fixation base recess formed into a lower side of the upper leg and extending rearward through a rear surface of the upper leg, the fixation base recess extending laterally between two opposing slots that extend forward from the rear surface of the upper leg, at least a portion of the first and second wings of the fixation base being positionable within the two opposing slots; and
a lock assembly comprising:
a collar positioned within the lock recess of the wear member, the collar comprising:
a top surface;
a bottom surface opposite the top surface; and
a bore extending along a central axis from the top surface to the bottom surface; and
