Abstract

A dishwasher includes a tub, a sump, an alternating device to guide water outside the sump. The alternating device has a cylindrical protrusion extending in an up-and-down direction, a recessed portion on its upper surface, and a plurality of outlets. A spray device sprays water from the alternating device into the tub and includes a first spray unit and a second spray unit having an inflow portion connected to the cylindrical protrusion. A duct guides water from the alternating device to the first spray unit and is coupled to the recessed portion. Water flowing from the alternating device to the first spray unit flows through the plurality of outlets to the duct, and water flowing from the alternating device to the second spray unit flows through the cylindrical protrusion and the inflow portion.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A dishwasher comprising:
a tub; a sump configured to receive water; an alternating device configured to guide the water received in the sump to outside of the sump, the alternating device including:
 an upper surface,
a cylindrical protrusion extending in an up-and-down direction from the upper surface,
a recessed portion in the upper surface, and
 a plurality of outlets;
a spray device configured to receive the water guided by the alternating device and spray the water received from the alternating device to wash tableware inside the tub, the spray device including:
 a first spray unit, and
a second spray unit including an inflow portion extending in an up-and-down direction and connected to the cylindrical protrusion of the alternating device; and
a duct configured to guide water from the alternating device to the first spray unit; wherein the alternating device and the duct are configured so that:
the duct is coupled to the recessed portion in the upper surface of the alternating device,
water flowing from the alternating device to the first spray unit flows through the plurality of outlets to the duct, and
water flowing from the alternating device to the second spray unit flows through the cylindrical protrusion and the inflow portion.

2 . The dishwasher of claim 1 , further comprising:
a sealing member configured to provide a seal between the duct and the recessed portion, wherein the duct includes a duct flange configured to accommodate the sealing member.

         3 . The dishwasher of claim 2 , wherein
the sealing member is in a ring shape, and the sealing member includes an outer protrusion on an outer portion of the sealing member, the outer protrusion being angled downward toward a lower end of the sealing member.

         4 . The dishwasher of claim 3 , wherein
the sealing member includes a lower protrusion on a lower portion of the sealing member, and the lower protrusion being angled downward and in a center direction of the sealing member.

         5 . The dishwasher of claim 3 , wherein
the sealing member includes an inner protrusion formed on a lower inner portion of the sealing member.

         6 . The dishwasher of claim 1 , wherein
 the alternating device includes:
 a housing, and
a disk inside the housing and configured to be rotatable to open and close the plurality of outlets.

         7 . The dishwasher of claim 1 , wherein
 the duct includes:
 a duct body, and
a hook protruding from the duct body, and
   the alternating device includes:
a holder on an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical protrusion so as to be engageable with the hook.

         8 . The dishwasher of claim 7 , wherein
the hook extends in a direction intersecting a direction in which the cylindrical protrusion extends to guide the duct to be coupled to the alternating device.

         9 . The dishwasher of claim 7 , wherein
the cylindrical protrusion includes a recess portion in a lower outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical protrusion.

         10 . The dishwasher of claim 9 , wherein
the duct includes a duct flange formed at a lower end of the duct body, and a part of the duct flange is configured to be received in the recess portion when the duct is coupled to the alternating device.

11 . The dishwasher of claim 6 , further comprising:
a duct unit configured to guide water in the tub and coupled to a rear surface of the tub.

         12 . The dishwasher of claim 11 , wherein
the duct is coupled with the duct unit.

         13 . The dishwasher of claim 12 , wherein
the duct includes a fixing rib protruding forwardly, and the duct unit includes a rib groove configured to receive the fixing rib to couple the duct unit with the duct.

         14 . The dishwasher of claim 1 , wherein
the duct includes a fastening hole, the alternating device includes a fastening dome, and the dishwasher further comprises a fastening member configured to extend through the fastening hole and the fastening dome so as to fasten the duct to the alternating device.
