Abstract

A backing board bracket includes a side plate, a front plate, a rear plate, a side front plate and a side rear plate. The side plate has inner and outer surfaces extending between first and second ends. The front plate has inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the first end of the side plate and a second end. The rear plate has inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the second end of the side plate and a second end. The side front plate has inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the second end of the front plate and a second end. The side rear plate has inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the second end of the rear plate and a second end.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A backing board bracket, comprising:
 a side plate having inner and outer surfaces extending between first and second ends;   a front plate angled relative to the side plate and having inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the first end of the side plate and a second end;   a rear plate angled relative to the side plate and having inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the second end of the side plate and a second end;   a front gap plate angled relative to the front plate and having inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the second end of the front plate and a second end;   a rear gap plate angled relative to the rear plate and having inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the second end of the rear plate and a second end;   a first flange extending from the outer surface of the side plate in a first direction;   a second flange extending from the outer surface of the front gap plate in a second direction opposite the first direction;   a first tab extending from the front gap plate second end towards the front plate inner surface; and   a second tab extending from the rear gap plate second end towards the rear plate inner surface.   
     
     
         2 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the second flange extends from the outer surface of the front gap plate at the front gap plate second end. 
     
     
         3 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein the first tab includes an eyelet distal from the front gap plate second end. 
     
     
         4 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 1 , further comprising a heel projecting from the second flange towards the rear gap plate. 
     
     
         5 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 1 , further comprising a gap between the front gap plate second end and the rear gap plate second end. 
     
     
         6 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 1 , further comprising a gap between the front gap plate and the first tab. 
     
     
         7 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 1 , further comprising a gap between the rear gap plate and the second tab. 
     
     
         8 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 1 , further comprising extending from a first edge to a second edge of the side plate, a plurality of voids between the inner and outer surfaces of the side plate adjacent to the front plate. 
     
     
         9 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 1 , further comprising a third tab extending from the rear gap plate second end away from the rear gap plate outer surface. 
     
     
         10 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 9 , wherein the third tab includes an eyelet distal from the rear gap plate second end. 
     
     
         11 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 9 , further comprising a gap between the rear gap plate and the third tab. 
     
     
         12 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 9 , wherein the third tab extends from the rear gap plate outer surface. 
     
     
         13 . A backing board bracket, comprising:
 configured to contact a metal framing stud outside surface, a side plate having inner and outer surfaces extending between first and second ends;   configured to contact a metal framing stud front surface while the side plate contacts the metal framing stud outside surface, a front plate having inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the first end of the side plate and a second end;   configured to contact a metal framing stud rear surface while the side plate contacts the metal framing stud outside surface and the front plate contacts the metal framing stud front surface, a rear plate having inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the second end of the side plate and a second end;   configured to contact a metal framing stud forward flange, while the rear plate contacts the metal framing stud rear surface, the side plate contacts the metal framing stud outside surface and the front plate contacts the metal framing stud front surface, a front gap plate having inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the second end of the front plate and a second end;   configured to contact a metal framing stud rearward flange while the front gap plate contacts the metal framing stud forward flange, the rear plate contacts the metal framing stud rear surface, the side plate contacts the metal framing stud outside surface and the front plate contacts the metal framing stud front surface, a rear gap plate having inner and outer surfaces extending between a first end coupled with the second end of the rear plate and a second end;   a first flange extending from the outer surface of the side plate in a first direction; and   a second flange extending from the outer surface of the front gap plate in a second direction opposite the first direction.   
     
     
         14 . The bracket as set forth in  claim 13 , further comprising a second tab extending from the rear gap plate second end towards the rear plate inner surface. 
     
     
         15 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 13 , further comprising a heel projecting from the second flange towards the rear gap plate. 
     
     
         16 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 13 , further comprising, extending from a first edge to a second edge of the side plate, a plurality of eyelets between the inner and outer surfaces of the side plate adjacent to the front plate. 
     
     
         17 . The bracket as set forth in  claim 13 , further comprising a first tab extending from the front gap plate second end towards the front plate inner surface. 
     
     
         18 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 17 , wherein the first tab includes an eyelet distal from the front gap plate second end. 
     
     
         19 . The bracket as set forth in  claim 13 , further comprising a third tab extending from the rear gap plate second end away from the rear gap plate outer surface. 
     
     
         20 . The backing board bracket as set forth in  claim 19 , wherein the third tab includes an eyelet distal from the rear gap plate second end.
