Abstract

One exemplary aspect relates to normalizing latency in a networking environment to reduce the chances of creating an unfair advantage. While an exemplary aspect will be discussed in relation to a gaming environment, it is to be appreciated that the techniques disclosed herein can be applied to other environments where latency normalization or the ability to maintain latency between various endpoints is desired. For example, other environments include eSporting, on-line betting, fantasy esports, streaming services, etc. Some more specific examples include World of Warcraft®, Overwatch®, H1Z1®, PUBG®, Fortnite®, Realm Royale®, Planet Side 2®, real-time strategy games, slot machines, electronic poker tournaments, etc.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A computer-based location event management system, comprising:
 at least one non-transitory computer readable memory storing software instructions and at least one notarized ledger; and at least one processor coupled with the at least one memory and that performs the following operations upon execution of the software instructions:
 creating at least one event associated with at least one location;
 measuring at least one location-based network latency with respect to the at least one location associated with the at least one event;
 determining a required presentation time of the at least one event based on the at least one location-based network latency;
 presenting the at least one event on a user device at the required presentation time; and
 recording event response information associated with the at least one event on the at least one notarized ledger.

         2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one event comprises a user created event.

         3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the user created event comprises a user created game event.

         4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one event comprises a game event.

         5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one event comprises a betting event.

         6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one location comprises a geolocation derived from GPS data.

         7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one location comprises a venue.

         8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one location comprises an endpoint location.

         9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one location-based network latency is measured with respect to the endpoint location.

         10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the endpoint location comprises at least one of the following: a computer, a laptop, a table, a smart phone, a mobile device, a gaming machine, a gambling machine, a vehicle, and a wearable.

         11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one location-based network latency is measured from a GPS unit.

         12 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one notarized ledger comprises a blockchain-based ledger.

         13 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one notarized ledger comprises a distributed ledger.

         14 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one notarized ledger comprises a peer-to-peer ledger.

         15 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further include:
 offering a subscription to at least one latency communication channel over a network.

         16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the operations further include:
 providing latency guarantees as part of a Quality of Service (QoS) for the at least one latency communication channel over the network.

         17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the operations further include:
 dynamically switching among channels of the at least one latency communication channel based on changing measurements of the at least one location-based network latency.

         18 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the required presentation time comprises at least one synchronized time among multiple endpoint devices.

         19 . A non-transitory computer-readable information storage media having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
 create at least one event associated with at least one location; measure at least one location-based network latency with respect to the at least one location associated with the at least one event; determine a required presentation time of the at least one event based on the at least one location-based network latency; present the at least one event on a user device at the required presentation time; and record event response information associated with the at least one event on at least one notarized ledger.

         20 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
 creating at least one event associated with at least one location; measuring at least one location-based network latency with respect to the at least one location associated with the at least one event; determining a required presentation time of the at least one event based on the at least one location-based network latency; presenting the at least one event on a user device at the required presentation time; and recording event response information associated with the at least one event on at least one notarized ledger.
