Abstract

A fluid dispenser comprises a housing, a first fluid interface on a first portion of the housing for attachment of a fluid applicator, and a second fluid interface on a second portion of the housing. The second fluid interface is configured to move from a first position in sealing engagement with the second portion of the housing to a second position for fluid connection of an interior of the housing to a fluid applicator system of a fluid dosing substrate dispenser when the fluid dispenser is fluidly connected to the fluid dosing substrate dispenser.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A fluid dispenser comprising:
 a housing;   a first fluid interface on a first portion of the housing for attachment of a fluid applicator; and   a second fluid interface on a second portion of the housing, wherein the second fluid interface is configured to move from a first position in sealing engagement with the second portion of the housing to a second position for fluid connection of an interior of the housing to a fluid applicator system of a fluid dosing substrate dispenser when the fluid dispenser is fluidly connected to the fluid dosing substrate dispenser.   
     
     
         2 . The fluid dispenser of  claim 1 , wherein the second fluid interface is arranged on an interior of the fluid housing such that the second fluid interface sealingly engages the interior of the housing. 
     
     
         3 . The fluid dispenser of  claim 1 , wherein the second fluid interface is arranged on an exterior of the fluid housing such that the second fluid interface sealingly engages the exterior of the housing. 
     
     
         4 . The fluid dispenser of  claim 1 , wherein the second fluid interface is a movable nipple. 
     
     
         5 . The fluid dispenser of  claim 1 , wherein the first fluid interface is a protrusion extending from the housing with an opening permitting access to an interior of the housing and threads for threaded engagement with corresponding threads of the fluid applicator. 
     
     
         6 . The fluid dispenser of  claim 1 , wherein the first portion of the housing and the second portion of the housing are at opposite ends of the housing. 
     
     
         7 . The fluid dispenser of  claim 1 , wherein the second fluid interface is a self-resealing membrane interface perforatable by a corresponding nozzle of the fluid dosing substrate dispenser. 
     
     
         8 . A wet or dry substrate dispenser, comprising:
 a housing including a substrate holding portion and a substrate advancing and wetting portion, wherein the substrate holding portion is configured to receive a plurality of substrates;   a substrate advancing mechanism; and   a fluid dispensing mechanism,   wherein the substrate advancing mechanism is configured to a receive and advance a portion of a substrate of the plurality of substates,   wherein the fluid dispensing mechanism is configured to selectively wet the portion of the substrate as the substrate advancing mechanism advances the portion of the substrate,   wherein the housing includes an externally open fluid reservoir holding portion configured to removably receive a fluid reservoir to fluidly connect the fluid reservoir to the fluid dispensing mechanism, and   wherein the fluid reservoir holding portion includes connection structure configured to move a fluid interface of the fluid reservoir from a sealing position where the fluid interface seals an interior of the fluid reservoir to an open position where the interior of the fluid reservoir is fluidly connected to the fluid dispensing mechanism.   
     
     
         9 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 8 , wherein the externally open fluid reservoir holding portion includes a plurality of connection structures including the connection structure, wherein each of the plurality of connection structures are configured to move a respective fluid interface of a respective fluid from a sealing position to an open position. 
     
     
         10 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 9 , wherein the open fluid reservoir holding portion is shaped to receive at least two fluid reservoirs simultaneously for simultaneous connection to respective connection structures from the plurality of connection structures. 
     
     
         11 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 8 , further comprising:
 a computing system configured to control the application mechanism to apply the fluid and to select at least one of amount of fluid for application, composition of fluid for application, or portion of the substrate the fluid is applied based on an input received by the computing system, wherein the computing system is further configured to control the substrate advancing mechanism to advance the portion of the substrate through the housing based on the input received indicating a user of the substrate dispenser.   
     
     
         12 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 11 , wherein the computing system is further configured:
 to measure operation of the substrate dispenser and to determine position of the substrate dispenser; and   to transmit the measured operation of the substrate dispenser and the determined position of the substrate dispenser to a computer arrangement remote from the substrate dispenser.   
     
     
         13 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 12 , wherein the measured operation of the substrate dispenser includes at least one of average fluid dispensed over a period of time, amount of fluid dispensed over the period of time, or amount of time since fluid or a substrate has been dispensed. 
     
     
         14 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 12 , wherein the measured operation of the substrate dispenser includes at least one of amount of substrate dispensed, amount of fluid dispensed, composition of fluid dispensed, portion of the substrate the fluid is applied on, or amount of fluid dispensed on a dispensed substrate. 
     
     
         15 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 12 , further comprising a data storage component, wherein the computing system is further configured to send the measured operation of the substrate dispenser and determined position of the substrate dispenser to the data storage component for storage and to retrieve the stored measured operation and stored determined position prior to transmission. 
     
     
         16 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 12 , wherein the computing system determines the position of the substrate dispenser by way of at least one of a global positioning system (GPS), an indoor positioning system (IPS), or radio frequency identification (RFID) tracking. 
     
     
         17 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 8 , further including a fluid reservoir reader configured to read an identification of a fluid reservoir to identify a type of fluid in the fluid reservoir. 
     
     
         18 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 8 , further including a handle for carrying the substrate dispenser. 
     
     
         19 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 8 , further including a connection structure to removably secure the substrate dispenser to an attachment module of a cart body. 
     
     
         20 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 19 , wherein the substrate dispenser is configured to cause the cart body to operate a motor to move the cart body to follow a user transmitter. 
     
     
         21 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 8 , further including at least one of:
 an integrated display integrated with the housing;   a docking port configured for removable attachment of a mobile user device,   wherein substrate dispenser is configured to control a display of the mobile user device when the mobile user device is attached to the docking port; or   a transceiver configured to wirelessly transmit data to and receive data from the mobile user device, wherein the substrate dispenser is configured to control the display of the mobile user device when the mobile user device and the transceiver are connected,   wherein at least one of the integrated display or the display of the mobile user device is configured to receive an input from a user to control operation of the substrate dispenser.   
     
     
         22 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 21 , further including:
 a connection structure to removably secure the substrate dispenser to an attachment module of a cart body; and   a computing system configured to control of at least one of the integrated display or the display of the mobile user device to display a first configuration when the substrate dispenser is separated from the attachment module and to display a second configuration when the substrate dispenser is secured to the attachment module,   wherein the first configuration and the second configuration are different.   
     
     
         23 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 8 , further including an energy store that provides power to operate at least one of the substrate advancing mechanism or the fluid dispensing mechanism. 
     
     
         24 . The wet or dry substrate dispenser of  claim 23 , further including a connection structure to removably secure the substrate dispenser to an attachment module of a cart body, wherein the energy store is a rechargeable battery and the attachment module includes an electrical connector to electrically connect the rechargeable battery to an power source in the cart body to charge the rechargeable battery. 
     
     
         25 . A smart cart operating system comprising:
 a cart body including an attachment module configured to removably receive and hold a substrate dispenser;   a substrate dispenser reader configured to read an identification of the substrate dispenser when the substrate dispenser is held by the attachment module to identify substrate dispenser type; rand   a computing system configured to control operation of the cart body when the substrate dispenser is received and held by the attachment module,   wherein operation of the cart body is a function of the substrate dispenser type held by the attachment module such that the computing system causes a first operation of the cart body when a first substrate dispenser type is held by the attachment module and a second operation of the cart body when a second substate dispenser type is held by the attachment module.   
     
     
         26 . The smart cart operating system of  claim 25 , wherein the computing system is further configured to transmit data to and receive data from a substrate dispenser held by the attachment module. 
     
     
         27 . The smart cart operating system of  claim 25 , further comprising:
 a plurality of wheels; and   a motor configured to drive operation of the wheels to move the cart body,   wherein the operation of the cart body controlled by the computing system includes operating the motor to move the cart body toward a transmitter.   
     
     
         28 . The smart cart operating system of  claim 25 , wherein the computing system is further configured to control operation of a display associated with the substrate dispenser when the substrate dispenser is held by the attachment module to cause the display to display an attached configuration indicating that the substrate dispenser is held by the attachment module. 
     
     
         29 . The smart cart operating system of  claim 25 , wherein the cart body includes a second attachment module. 
     
     
         30 . The smart cart operating system of  claim 29 , wherein the second attachment module is configured to removably receive and hold a third substrate dispenser type that is different from the first substrate dispenser type and the second substrate dispenser type.
