Abstract

A humeral anchor for a shoulder prosthesis is disclosed. The humeral anchor includes a distal portion configured to be anchored in a proximal region of a humerus and a proximal portion, the proximal portion including a proximal face, where the proximal face includes an engagement feature configured to directly couple to a reverse shoulder insert having a concave proximal portion, and wherein the proximal face is further configured to directly couple with an anatomical shoulder insert having a convex proximal portion.

 a shaft portion coupled to a distal end of the metaphyseal portion.

         2 . The humeral implant system of claim 1 , wherein the recess extends through the proximal portion of the stem.

         3 . The humeral implant system of claim 2 , wherein a window is defined between the medial portion, the first lateral portion, and the second lateral portion of the metaphyseal portion.

         4 . The humeral implant system of claim 3 , wherein the window is sized and configured to receive a bone graft therein.

         5 . The humeral implant system of claim 3 , wherein the recess opens to the window.

         6 . The humeral implant system of claim 1 , wherein the medial portion of the metaphyseal portion of the stem defines one or more through holes.

         7 . The humeral implant system of claim 1 , further comprising:
 the reverse insert, the reverse insert including a protrusion sized and configured to be received in the internal cavity defined by the proximal portion of the stem, wherein an inner periphery of the proximal portion of the stem that defines the internal cavity includes a groove for securing the reverse insert to the stem.

         8 . The humeral implant system of claim 1 , further comprising:
 the anatomic insert, the anatomic insert including a surface configured to abut the peripheral rim of the stem.

         9 . The humeral implant system of claim 8 , wherein the internal cavity defined by the proximal portion of the stem extends from the peripheral rim to a planar base surface.

         10 . The humeral implant system of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of circumferential ridges extend radially into the internal cavity defined by the proximal portion.

         11 . The humeral implant of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of circumferential ridges and a sidewall of the proximal portion that defines the internal cavity are monolithic.

         12 . A humeral implant system, comprising;
 a stem, including:
 a proximal portion having a hemispherical shape and a proximal face, the proximal portion defining an interior cavity extending inwardly from the proximal face and bounded by a sidewall, the sidewall including one or more circumferential grooves extending radially inwardly into the interior cavity;
 a shaft portion defining a longitudinal axis; and
 a metaphyseal portion disposed between and connecting the proximal portion and the stem portion, the metaphyseal portion including at least three portions extending radially away from the longitudinal axis defined by the shaft portion, the at least three portions including a first portion extending in a medial direction, a second portion extending in a first lateral direction, and a third portion extending a second lateral direction that is different from the first lateral direction
   wherein the proximal portion of the stem is configured to be coupled to an anatomic articular component and to a reverse articular component.

         13 . The humeral implant system of claim 12 , wherein the internal cavity defined by the proximal portion of the stem is sized and configured to receive at least a portion of the reverse articular component therein.

         14 . The humeral implant system of claim 13 , wherein the proximal portion of the stem defines a recess within the internal cavity for use in coupling the anatomic articular component to the stem.

         15 . The humeral implant system of claim 14 , wherein the at least three portions of the metaphyseal portion collectively define an opening sized and configured to receive a bone graft therein.

         16 . The humeral implant system of claim 15 , wherein the recess defined by the proximal part of the stem extends into the opening.
