Abstract

In an example, a bed exercise system is described. The bed exercise system includes a foot pad, a first elastic connector having a first end coupled to a first lateral side of the foot pad and a second end, and a second elastic connector having a first end coupled to a second lateral side of the foot pad and a second end. The bed exercise system also includes an anchor coupled to the second end of the first elastic connector and the second end of the second elastic connector. The anchor is configured to fasten, at a fixed position relative to a bed, the second end of the first elastic connector and the second end of the second elastic connector while (i) the foot pad is moved between a first position and a second position relative to a bed, and (ii) a tension on the first elastic connector and a tension on the second elastic connector increases as the foot pad moves from the first position to the second position.

1 . A bed exercise system, comprising:
 a foot pad comprising a first lateral side, a second lateral side opposite the first lateral side, an upper side, and a lower side, a proximal surface, and a distal surface opposite of the proximal surface, wherein the proximal surface and the distal surface extend between the first lateral side, the second lateral side, the upper side, and the lower side to define an internal cavity in the foot pad, wherein the foot pad comprises a foot cushion in the internal cavity of the foot pad, wherein the foot cushion is defined by a plurality of foot-cushion segments;   a first elastic connector having a first end coupled to a first lateral side of the foot pad and a second end;   a second elastic connector having a first end coupled to a second lateral side of the foot pad and a second end; and   an anchor coupled to the second end of the first elastic connector and the second end of the second elastic connector,   wherein the anchor is configured to fasten, at a fixed position relative to a bed, the second end of the first elastic connector and the second end of the second elastic connector while (i) the foot pad is moved between a first position and a second position relative to a bed, and (ii) a tension on the first elastic connector and a tension on the second elastic connector increases as the foot pad moves from the first position to the second position.   
     
     
         2 . The bed exercise system of  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of foot-cushion segments comprises:
 a center segment,   a first lateral segment on a first lateral side of the center segment,   a second lateral segment on a second lateral side of the center segment,   a first intermediate segment between the center segment and the first lateral segment, and   a second intermediate segment between the center segment and the second lateral segment.   
     
     
         3 . The bed exercise system of  claim 2 , wherein a longitudinal axis of the center segment is approximately collinear with a center axis of the foot pad, wherein the center axis extends from the upper side of the foot pad to the lower side of the foot pad. 
     
     
         4 . The bed exercise system of  claim 2 , wherein the center segment has a width that is greater than respective widths of the first lateral segment, the second lateral segment, the first intermediate segment, and the second intermediate segment. 
     
     
         5 . The bed exercise system of  claim 2 , wherein the center segment has a thickness that is greater than respective thicknesses of the first lateral segment, the second lateral segment, the first intermediate segment, and the second intermediate segment. 
     
     
         6 . The bed exercise system of  claim 2 , wherein, when tension is applied to the foot pad by the first elastic connector and the second elastic connector, the first lateral segment and the second lateral segment hingedly move inwardly relative to the first intermediate segment and the second lateral segment to provide lateral barriers that retain (i) one foot of an operator on the first intermediate segment between the center segment and the first lateral segment, and (ii) another foot of the operator on the second intermediate segment between the center segment and the second lateral segment. 
     
     
         7 . The bed exercise system of  claim 2 , wherein the plurality of foot-cushion segments can be elongated and extend along a height of the foot pad. 
     
     
         8 . The bed exercise system of  claim 2 , further comprising a leg support member that extends from the lower side of the foot pad, wherein the leg support member comprises a leg cushion that is defined by a plurality of leg-cushion segments in an internal cavity of the leg support member. 
     
     
         9 . The bed exercise system of  claim 8 , wherein the plurality of leg-cushion segments comprise a center segment, a plurality of first lateral segments on a first lateral side of the center segment, and a plurality of second lateral segments on a second lateral side of the center segment, which is opposite the first lateral side. 
     
     
         10 . The bed exercise system of  claim 9 , wherein a longitudinal axis of the center segment of the leg cushion is approximately collinear with a center axis of the leg support member,
 wherein the longitudinal axis of the center segment of the leg cushion extends from a distal end of the leg support member to a proximal end of the leg support member and through a center of the center segment of the leg cushion, and   wherein the center axis of the leg support member extends from a distal side of the leg support member to a proximal side support member, and at a midpoint between first lateral side of the leg support member and a second lateral side of the leg support member.   
     
     
         11 . The bed exercise system of  claim 9 , wherein the center segment of the leg support member is aligned with the center segment of the foot pad, and the center segment of the leg cushion has a width that is approximately equal to a width of the center segment of the foot cushion. 
     
     
         12 . The bed exercise system of  claim 9 , wherein the center segment of the leg support member has a thickness that is greater than respective thicknesses of the first lateral segments of the leg cushion and the second lateral segments of the leg cushion. 
     
     
         13 . The bed exercise system of  claim 9 , wherein the plurality of first lateral segments and the plurality of second lateral segments can be elongated and extend along a width of the leg support member. 
     
     
         14 . The bed exercise system of  claim 9 , wherein the plurality of first lateral segments extend from the center segment of the leg cushion to the first lateral side of the leg support member, and the plurality of second lateral segments extend from the center segment of the leg cushion to the second lateral side. 
     
     
         15 . The bed exercise system of  claim 2 , wherein the foot pad comprises a foam support member on a distal side of the plurality of foot-cushion segments,
 wherein the foam support member can extend between the first lateral side, the second lateral side, the upper side, and the lower side of the foot pad.   
     
     
         16 . The bed exercise system of  claim 1 , wherein the foot cushion is formed from cluster fiber fill. 
     
     
         17 . The bed exercise system of  claim 1 , further comprising one or more foot straps, wherein the foot straps comprise a first hook-and-loop material, the proximal surface of the foot pad comprises a second hook-and-loop material, and the first hook-and-loop material is configured to couple to the second hook-and-loop material by a hook-and-loop coupling. 
     
     
         18 . The bed exercise system of  claim 17 , wherein one or more foot straps comprise a first center hook portion, a first strap portion extending from a first lateral side of the first center hook portion, a first lateral hook portion at a lateral end of the first strap portion, a second strap portion extending from a second lateral side of the first center hook portion, and a second lateral hook portion at a lateral end of the second strap portion,
 wherein the first strap portion and the second strap portion extend from an upper portion of the first center hook portion,   wherein the first center hook portion has a distal surface including the first hook-and-loop material configured to couple to the second hook-and-loop material of the proximal surface of the foot pad, and a proximal surface that is configured to engage a sole of one foot of an operator, and   wherein the first lateral hook portion and the second lateral hook portion include the first hook-and-loop material that is configured to couple to the second hook-and-loop material of the proximal surface of the foot pad.   
     
     
         19 . The bed exercise system of  claim 17 , wherein the one or more foot straps comprise a first strap portion and a second strap portion for coupling a first foot to the foot pad, and a third strap portion and a fourth strap portion for coupling a second foot to the foot pad,
 wherein respective ends of the first strap portion, the second strap portion, the third strap portion, and the fourth strap portion can each include a hook portion formed from the first hook-and-loop material,   wherein the one or more foot straps are configured to couple the first foot to the foot pad with (i) a first end of the first strap portion coupled to an upper portion of the proximal surface on a first lateral side of the first foot and a second end of the first strap portion coupled to a lower portion of the proximal surface on a second lateral side of the first foot such that the first strap portion extends over and across the first foot, and (ii) a first end of the second strap portion coupled to an upper portion of the proximal surface on the first lateral side of the first foot and a second end of the second strap portion coupled to a lower portion of the proximal surface on the second lateral side of the first foot such that the second strap portion extends over and across the first foot, and   wherein the one or more foot straps are configured to couple the second foot to the foot pad with (i) a first end of the third strap portion coupled to an upper portion of the proximal surface on a first lateral side of the second foot and a second end of the third strap portion coupled to a lower portion of the proximal surface on a second lateral side of the second foot such that the third strap portion extends over and across the second foot, and (ii) a first end of the fourth strap portion coupled to an upper portion of the proximal surface on the first lateral side of the second foot and a second end of the fourth strap portion coupled to a lower portion of the proximal surface on the second lateral side of the second foot such that the fourth strap portion extends over and across the second foot.   
     
     
         20 . The bed exercise system of  claim 17 , wherein the one or more foot straps comprise (i) a center hook portion, (ii) a first lateral hook portion on a first lateral side of the center hook portion, (iii) a second lateral hook portion on the first lateral side of the center hook portion, (iv) a third lateral hook portion on a second lateral side of the center hook portion, (v) a first strap portion extending between the first lateral hook portion and a lower portion of the third lateral hook portion, and (vi) a second strap portion extending between the second lateral hook portion and an upper portion of the third lateral hook portion,
 wherein the first strap portion and the second strap portion overlap in a crisscross configuration, and   wherein an interface at which the first strap portion and the second strap portion is coupled to the proximal surface of the foot pad by the center hook portion.   
     
     
         21 . The bed exercise system of  claim 17 , wherein the one or more foot straps comprise a first strap portion extending between a first hook portion and a second hook portion,
 wherein he first strap portion has an aperture in a middle section of the first strap portion,   wherein the first strap portion is configured such that a first foot is couplable to the proximal surface of the foot pad with the first hook portion coupled to the proximal surface on a first lateral side of the first foot, the second hook portion coupled to the proximal surface on a second lateral side of the first foot, and the first strap portion extending over and across the first foot.   
     
     
         22 . The bed exercise system of  claim 17 , wherein the one or more foot straps comprise a center hook portion, a first lateral hook portion on a first lateral side of the center hook portion, and a second lateral hook portion on a second lateral side of the center hook portion that are configured to couple to the proximal surface of the foot pad,
 wherein the one or more foot straps further comprises one or more strap portions having strap hook portions at lateral ends of the one or more strap portions,   wherein the one or more strap portions extend from the center hook portion, wrap around the first lateral hook portion and/or the second lateral hook portion, and couple the strap hook portions to a proximal side of the center hook portion.   
     
     
         23 . The bed exercise system of  claim 22 , wherein the one or more strap portions pass between (i) the proximal surface of the foot pad and (ii) the first lateral hook portion and/or the second lateral hook portion to wrap around the first lateral hook portion and/or the second lateral hook portion.
