Abstract
The enhancement of foodstuffs is effected by the addition of a small but effective flavor-modifying amount of a compound having the general formula WHEREIN R is hydrogen or methyl or ethyl and at least one R is methyl or ethyl.

1. As a new composition of matter a soluble coffee material having added thereto a minor, but flavor modifying amount of a compound selected from the group of compounds having the general formula: ##SPC3## wherein R is hydrogen or methyl or ethyl, at least one of the R's being methyl or ethyl.
2. The soluble coffee of claim 1 wherein the added compound is alpha-methyl-naphthalene.
3. The soluble coffee of claim 1 wherein the added compound is beta-methyl-naphthalene.
4. The soluble coffee of claim 1 wherein the added compound is beta-ethyl-naphthalene.
5. The soluble coffee of claim 1 wherein the added compound is 1,2-dimethyl-naphthalene.
6. The soluble coffee of claim 1 wherein the added compound is 1,3-dimethyl-naphthalene.
