Abstract

Novel aromatic guanidine compounds having the formula: ##STR1## wherein: R 1 is hydroxyl, methyl or hydroxymethyl and R 2 is hydrogen or methyl, are found to have biological activity. The guanidine compounds and their salts are shown to be active as vasoconstrictor agents and create useful pharmaceutical preparations when deployed with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier for administration to a host, e.g., man, requiring vasoconstrictive therapy.

       1. Aromatic guanidine compounds having the formula ##STR3## wherein: R 1  is hydroxyl; and R 2  is hydrogen or methyl. 
     
     
       2. A compound according to claim 1 denominated 3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl guanidine.
