Abstract

A toothed-belt and toothed-pulleys transmission including means for widening the teeth of the toothed-belt, said means corresponding to the top of each belt tooth and the base of each toothed-pulley groove.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A toothed-pulley for transmission with an elastomeric belt, said belt comprising a plurality of belt teeth and a protuberance cantilevered from a top portion of each of said belt teeth, said toothed-pulley comprising: a pulley toothing comprising a plurality of pulley teeth formed from a rigid material and a plurality of grooves which separate the individual teeth of said plurality of pulley teeth, said grooves having bottom and side portions; and widening means for widening said teeth of said belt during engagement with said pulley toothing, said widening means comprising a housing-slot in each bottom portion of the respective grooves of said pulley toothing.

       2. A toothed-pulley as in claim 1, wherein each said housing-slot comprises centering means for centering a tooth of said toothed-belt inside each groove to avoid microdisplacements which otherwise might occur between said tooth and a belt body of said toothed-belt due to inherent deformability of an elastomeric material used for said toothed-belt and to ensure absolute positiveness of said transmission by eliminating microdisplacements between the toothing of the toothed-belt and the toothing of the toothed-pulley and consequently by eliminating production of any vibrations in said transmission.

       3. A toothed-pulley as set forth in claim 1, wherein each groove comprises supporting means for supporting a said tooth of said toothed-belt inside said each groove of said toothed-pulley.

       4. A toothed-pulley as set forth in claim 1, wherein the volume of the space constituting each groove of the toothed-pulley is substantially equal to the volume of each tooth of the toothed-belt to be engaged with it, whereby after insertion of a said tooth into a said groove of the toothed-pulley, the widening of said tooth of the belt brings into contact practically the entire surface of said one groove of the toothed-pulley without causing stresses in the perpendicular direction of a tension-resistant insert of the toothed-belt.

       5. A toothed-pulley as in claim 1, wherein a depth of said housing-slot is less than a height of said protuberance of said belt teeth for engaging with said pulley.

       6. A toothed-pulley as in claim 1, wherein each said housing-slot is located at a radially innermost location at a said bottom portion of a said groove of said toothing.
