Substituted phenylacetamides

Abstract

This application discloses certain substituted phenylacetamides of the formula: ##STR1## in which the dotted line represents optional unsaturation, R 1 is alkyl; R 2 is alkyl; R 4 is hydrogen or alkyl; R 5 and R 6 , one of which may be hydrogen, are independently, hydroxyl, alkyl, alkoxy, aralkoxy, alkanoyloxy, alkylmercapto, N-protected amino, halo or trifluoromethyl; R 7 is hydrogen or alkyl; and n is one of the integers 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4; which are useful in the production of antidepressant agents.

What is claimed is: 
     
       1. A compound of the formula: ##STR16## in which the dotted line represents optional unsaturation, R 1  is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R 2  is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms;   R 4  is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms;   R 5  and R 6 , one of which may be hydrogen, are independently, hydroxyl, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, aralkoxy of 7 to 9 carbon atoms, alkanoyloxy of 2 to 7 carbon atoms, alkylmercapto of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, N-protected amino, halo or trifluoromethyl;   R 7  is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and   n is one of the integers 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4.   
     
     
       2. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-bromophenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       3. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(3-bromophenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       4. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(3-chlorophenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       5. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(2-chlorophenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       6. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(3,4-dichlorophenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       7. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(3-methoxyphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       8. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanole. 
     
     
       9. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       10. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(3-trifluoromethylphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       11. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-methylphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       12. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-benzyloxyphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       13. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(3-benzyloxyphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol. 
     
     
       14. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-bromophenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclobutanol. 
     
     
       15. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-methoxyphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclopentanol. 
     
     
       16. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-methoxyphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cycloheptanol. 
     
     
       17. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-methoxyphenyl)[)dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclooctanol. 
     
     
       18. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-methoxyphenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohex-2-en-1-ol. 
     
     
       19. The compound of claim 1 which is 1-[(4-aminophenyl)[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]methyl]cyclohexanol.
