Antitumor compositions and methods

Abstract

This invention provides the use of N-[[(3,4-dichlorophenyl)amino]carbonyl]-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-5-sulfonamide, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, in the treatment of susceptible neoplasms in mammals. This invention further provides the novel aforementioned compound and its pharmaceutical formulations.

We claim: 
     
       1. A method of treating susceptible neoplasms in mammals which comprises administering to a mammal in need of said treatment an effective amount for treating susceptible neoplasms of a compound of the formula ##STR7## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 
     
     
       2. A compound of the formula ##STR8## and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. 
     
     
       3. A pharmaceutical formulation comprising an effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR9## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in combination with a suitable pharmaceutical excipient.
