Abstract

A gas generating device is constructed of a gas generator, a hammer pin trigger device and a gas guide slot. The gas generator has a detonator. The hammer pin trigger device has a hammer pin arranged movably toward the detonator so that the hammer pin is caused to strike and fire the detonator. The gas guide slot is formed at a joint portion between the gas generator and the hammer pin trigger device for guiding gas, which occurs upon firing the detonator, in a specific direction to an outside of the gas generating device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A gas generating device comprising: a gas generator having a detonator; a hammer pin trigger device having a hammer pin arranged movably towards said detonator so that said hammerpin is caused to strike and fire said detonator; and gas guide means arranged at a joint portion between said gas generator and said hammer pin trigger device for guiding gas, which occurs upon firing said detonator, in a specific direction to an outside of said gas generating device, wherein said gas guide means comprises a gas guide slot formed in said gas generator.

       2. A gas generating device comprising: a gas generator having a detonator; a hammer pin trigger device having a hammer pin arranged movably towards said detonator so that said hammer pin is caused to strike and fire said detonator; and gas guide means arranged at a joint portion between said gas generator and said hammer pin trigger device for guiding gas, which occurs upon firing said detonator, in a specific direction to an outside of said gas generating device, wherein said gas guide means comprises a gas guide slot formed in said hammer pin trigger device.

       3. A gas generating device comprising: a gas generator having a detonator; a hammer pin trigger device having a hammer pin arranged movably towards said detonator so that said hammer pin is caused to strike and fire said detonator; gas guide means arranged at a joint portion between said gas generator and said hammer pin trigger device for guiding gas, which occurs upon firing said detonator, in a specific direction to an outside of said gas generating device; and a bracket disposed between said gas generator and said hammer pin trigger device and defining therein a through-bore through which said hammer pin extends, and said gas guide means is provided communicating from said through-bore to said outside.

       4. A gas generating device according to claim 3, wherein said hammer pin trigger device comprises a bottom-closed cylindrical housing and a hammer pin guide member disposed closing an open end of said housing, and said guide member centrally defines an aperture through which said hammer pin is allowed to pass.

       5. A gas generating device according to claim 4, wherein cut-off portions are defined in walls of said housing and guide member, respectively, said walls being located opposite said bracket, and said cut-off portions form said gas guide means.

       6. A gas generating device according to claim 5, wherein said cut-off portions are sectorial in shape.

       7. A gas generating device according to claim 3, wherein said gas generator comprises a bottom-closed cylindrical casing and a cap disposed in said casing on a side of said bracket, and said cap defines a through-hole for guiding a tip portion of said hammer pin.

       8. A gas generating device according to claim 7, wherein cut-off portions are defined in walls of said casing and cap, respectively, said walls being located opposite said bracket, and said cut-off portions form said gas guide means.

       9. A gas generating device according to claim 3, further comprising a housing mounted on said bracket and accommodating said gas generator therein, wherein said gas guide means is formed between said housing and said bracket.

       10. A gas generating device according to claim 3, wherein at least one of said hammer pin trigger device and said gas generator has a spacer on a wall located opposite said bracket and said gas guide means is formed between said spacer and said bracket.

       11. A gas generating device comprising: a bracket defining a through-bore therein; a hammer pin trigger device mounted on one side of said bracket, said hammer pin trigger device having a hammer pin movable in a direction to pass through said through-bore; a gas generator mounted on an opposite side of said bracket and having a detonator which is fired when struck by said hammer pin; and a gas guide slot formed between said bracket and at least one of said hammer pin trigger device and said gas generator and communicating from said through-bore to an outside of said gas generating device for guiding gas, which occurs upon firing said detonator, in a specific direction to said outside.

       12. A gas generating device comprising: gas generator having a detonator; a hammer pin trigger device having a hammer pin arrange movably towards said detonator so that said hammer pin is caused to strike and fire said detonator; and a shielding member arranged outside a joint portion between said gas generator and said hammer pin trigger device for preventing gas, which leaks out along said joint portion upon firing said detonator, from blowing out in a specific direction, wherein said joint portion has a bracket disposed between said gas generator and said hammer pin trigger device and carrying said gas generator and said hammer pin trigger device mounted thereon, and said shielding member has a gas shielding plate extending substantially at a right angle relative to said bracket.

       13. A gas generating device according to claim 12, wherein said gas shielding plate comprises a first wall and a second wall extending at a right angle relative to said first wall.
