We claim: 
     
       1. A method for producing L-threonine, comprising (a), culturing in a medium Escherichia coli strain BKIIM B-3996, which contains a recombinant plasmid pVIC40 and produces L-threonine, and is deposited at the All-Union Scientific Center of Antibiotics under Accession No. RIA 1867; (b), accumulating L-threonine in the medium, and (c), collecting L-threonine from the medium.
