Abstract

The present invention relates to a novel integrin alpha E subunit and its functional equivalents. The invention further includes pharmaceutical compositions containing the isolated peptides, oligonucleotides encoding the peptides, vectors containing the oligonucleotides, and cell lines transfected with the vectors.

We claim: 
     
       1. An isolated oligonucleotide comprising Sequence I.D. No. 1 or a portion thereof encoding the human mucosal lymphocyte-10α chain. 
     
     
       2. A vector comprising Sequence I.D. No. 1. 
     
     
       3. A cell containing the vector of claim 2. 
     
     
       4. An isolated oligonucleotide consisting of a nucleic acid sequence encoding a peptide selected from the group consisting of Sequence I.D. Nos. 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24 and 25. 
     
     
       5. A vector comprising the oligonucleotide of claim 4. 
     
     
       6. A cell comprising the vector of claim 5. 
     
     
       7. An isolated oligonucleotide which hybridizes under stringent conditions to the nucleotide sequence between and including positions 555 and 719 of Sequence I.D. No. 1. 
     
     
       8. The oligonucleotide of claim 7 wherein the oligonucleotide hybridizes under stringent conditions to the nucleotide sequence between and including positions 555 and 656 of Sequence I.D. No. 1. 
     
     
       9. The oligonucleotide of claim 8 wherein the oligonucleotide is 100% complementary to the nucleotide sequence between and including positions 555 and 656 of Sequence I.D. No. 1. 
     
     
       10. The oligonucleotide of claim 7 wherein the oligonucleotide hybridizes under stringent conditions to the nucleotide sequence between and including positions 656 and 719 of Sequence I.D. No. 1. 
     
     
       11. The oligonucleotide of claim 10 wherein the oligonucleotide is 100% complementary to the nucleotide sequence between and including positions 656 and 719 of Sequence I.D. No. 1. 
     
     
       12. A vector comprising an oligonucleotide selected from the group consisting of the oligonucleotide of claims 7, 8 or 10. 
     
     
       13. The vector of claim 12 wherein the oligonucleotide is operatively joined to a regulatory sequence. 
     
     
       14. A cell comprising the vector of claim 12.
