Abstract

A sealed prismatic battery has a battery case made of a plurality of prismatic cell cases coupled together via partition walls. Electrode plate groups are accommodated together with liquid electrolyte in each of the cell cases. Each electrode plate group consists of alternately stacked-up positive and negative electrode plates with separators interposed therebetween, lead portions of positive and negative electrode plates being protruded on opposite sides. Collectors are bonded to these lead portions. Between the collectors and end walls (and/or partition walls) of the battery case are provided conductive plates that are connected to the collectors one or more than one location in their middle part so as to decrease the resistance between connection terminals and the electrode plate groups.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1. A sealed prismatic battery comprising:
 a prismatic battery case comprising a plurality of short walls extending in parallel, and a long wall connecting a bottom edge of each of said short walls;
 said short walls including a pair of opposing end walls and a plurality of partition walls disposed between said end walls;
 a plurality of cells defined between adjacent short walls including a pair of end cells defined between respective end walls and partition walls disposed adjacent thereto;
 a pair of connecting terminals extending outwardly from ones of said end cells, said terminals extending through said end walls;
 a pair of conductive plates disposed in ones of said end cells, said conductive plates extending along said end walls and connecting said terminals disposed therein;
 a plurality of electrode plate groups respectively encased in the cell cases together with liquid electrolyte and comprised of a plurality of positive electrode plates and a plurality of negative electrode plates alternately stacked upon one another with separators interposed therebetween, one side edge of the positive electrode plates and the other side edge of the negative electrode plates being protruded in opposite directions to form respective lead portions;
 a plurality of collectors each electrically connecting to ones of said lead portions, the electrical connections consisting of a plurality of bonds spaced over the length of each of said collectors for defining a first current route therebetween;
 said plurality of collectors including two end collectors electrically connecting to ones of said conductive plates, the electrical connection being at a plurality of locations spaced over the length of each of said end collectors for defining a second current route therebetween;
 the electrical connections for said second current route being lengthwise offset from the electrical connections defining said first current route;
 whereby a current path between each terminal and each adjacent of said plate groups consists of said first and second current routes; and
 each conductive plate having a larger cross section than each end collector connected thereto.
