Abstract
The present invention relates to a method of identifying an increase in risk for type II Diabetes mellitus, venous thrombosis, or pulmonary embolism in a subject, wherein the presence of an amino acid exchange at position 286 from valine (Val) to alanine (Ala) in the EDG5 protein in a biological sample taken from the subject.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1. A method for identifying an increase in risk for type II diabetes mellitus, venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism or a combination thereof in a subject, comprising the steps of: (a) removing a biological sample from the subject that comprises a human EDG5 protein; (b) determining whether an amino acid residue exchange of valine to alanine at position 286 of the human EDG5 protein of SEQ ID NO: 3 is present in the protein from the biological sample, wherein the presence of alanine at this position is correlated with an increased risk for type II diabetes mellitus, venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism or a combination thereof in said subject.
