Abstract
A scroll machine includes a shell and a pair of scroll members. At least one of the scroll members disposed in the shell is mounted for axial movement with respect to the other scroll member disposed in the scroll. The amount of axial movement of at least one scroll member is accurately controlled by providing a stop. The stop is defined by the contact of the end plate of the at least one scroll member with another member of the scroll machine which is accurately positioned within the shell of the scroll machine. The member can be either the shell or another component which engages the shell.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1. A scroll machine comprising:
a shell including a partition defining a seal interface;
a non-orbiting scroll member disposed within said shell, said non-orbiting scroll member having a first spiral wrap extending from a first end plate and a radially outward extending scroll flange;
an orbiting scroll member disposed within said shell, said orbiting scroll member having a second spiral wrap extending from a second end plate, said second scroll wrap being intermeshed with said first scroll wrap;
a sleeve guide disposed in an opening defined by said flange portion, said sleeve guide defining a first groove; and
an axial stop disposed within said first groove defined by said sleeve guide between said sleeve guide and said shell, said partition abutting said axial stop and said radially extending scroll flange engaging said axial stop to limit axial movement of said non-orbiting scroll member with respect to said shell.
2. The scroll machine according to claim 1 , wherein said axial stop is a snap ring.
3. The scroll machine according to claim 1 , wherein said sleeve guide defines a second groove, said first groove forming an upper groove and said second groove forming a lower groove.
4. The scroll machine according to claim 3 , wherein said sleeve guide is symmetrical with respect to said first and second grooves.
5. The scroll machine according to claim 1 , wherein said partition divides said shell into a suction pressure zone and a discharge pressure zone.
6. The scroll machine according to claim 5 , wherein said axial stop is a snap ring.
7. The scroll machine according to claim 5 , wherein said sleeve guide defines a second groove, said first groove forming an upper groove and said second groove forming a lower groove.
8. The scroll machine according to claim 7 , wherein said sleeve guide is symmetrical with respect to said first and second grooves.
9. The scroll machine according to claim 1 , wherein a predetermined axial spacing is provided between said seal interface and said non-orbiting scroll member by said partition abutting said axial stop.
10. A scroll machine comprising:
a shell including a partition defining a seal interface;
a non-orbiting scroll member disposed within said shell, said non-orbiting scroll member having a first spiral wrap extending from a first end plate and a radially outward extending scroll flange;
an orbiting scroll member disposed within said shell, said orbiting scroll member having a second spiral wrap extending from a second end plate, said second scroll wrap being intermeshed with said first scroll wrap;
a sleeve guide disposed in an opening defined by said flange portion;
a retention member securing said sleeve guide to said shell; and
an axial stop secured to said sleeve guide at a position spaced from said retention member and axially between first and second axial ends of said sleeve guide, said partition abutting said axial stop and said radially extending scroll flange engaging said axial stop to limit axial movement of said non-orbiting scroll member with respect to said shell.
11. The scroll machine according to claim 10 , wherein said retention member is a bolt.
12. The scroll machine according to claim 10 , wherein said retention member secures said sleeve guide to a bearing housing secured to said shell.
13. The scroll machine according to claim 10 , wherein said sleeve guide defines a first groove, said axial stop being disposed within said groove.
14. The scroll machine according to claim 13 , wherein said axial stop is a snap ring.
15. The scroll machine according to claim 13 , wherein said sleeve guide defines a second groove, said first groove forming an upper groove and said second groove forming a lower groove.
16. The scroll machine according to claim 15 , wherein said sleeve guide is symmetrical with respect to said first and second grooves.
17. The scroll machine according to claim 10 , wherein a predetermined axial spacing is provided between said seal interface and said non-orbiting scroll member by said partition abutting said axial stop.Cited by (0)
