Abstract

Oligonucleotides directed against the survivin gene are provided for modulating the expression of survivin. The compositions comprise oligonucleotides, particularly antisense oligonucleotides, targeted to nucleic acids encoding the survivin. Methods of using these compounds for modulation of survivin expression and for the treatment of diseases associated with either overexpression of survivin, expression of mutated survivin or both are provided. Examples of diseases are cancer such as lung, breast, colon, prostate, pancreas, lung, liver, thyroid, kidney, brain, testes, stomach, intestine, bowel, spinal cord, sinuses, bladder, urinary tract or ovaries cancers. The oligonucleotides may be composed of deoxyribonucleosides or a nucleic acid analogue such as for example locked nucleic acid or a combination thereof.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1. A method for treating prostatic, breast or lung carcinoma, said method comprising administering an effective amount of an oligonucleotide compound having the sequence as defined in SEQ ID NO: 130 to a patient in need thereof.

       2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said carcinoma is.

       3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said carcinoma is breast carcinoma.

       4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said carcinoma is lung carcinoma.

       5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the oligonucleotide compound has the sequence as defined in SEQ ID NO: 660.

       6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the oligonucleotide compound has the sequence as defined in SEQ ID NO: 661.

       7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the oligonucleotide compound has the sequence as defined in SEQ ID NO: 662.

       8. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the oligonucleotide compound has the sequence as defined in SEQ ID NO: 663.

       9. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the oligonucleotide compound is administered parenterally.

       10. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the oligonucleotide compound is administered intravenously.

       11. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the oligonucleotide compound is administered by bolus injection into a target organ.

       12. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the oligonucleotide compound is administered intraperitoneally.
