Abstract

A strap with rotatably mounted clip fabricated in a single molding operation. The strap includes a strap retention member and a plurality of teeth. The rotatable clip includes a clip member, a pedestal and a head. The pedestal is retained in a pedestal opening formed through the strap. In fabrication, a top mold insert is slid into a top of first and second mold halves and a bottom mold insert is slid into a bottom of the first and second mold halves. Plastic is then injected into the first and second mold halves to independently and separately form the strap and the clip in a single molding process, wherein the inserts provide a space between the pedestal opening and the pedestal to allow the clip to rotate relative to the strap.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1. A strap with a rotatably mounted clip, comprising:
 a strap body defining an opening therethrough, said strap body including, ends;
 a plurality of teeth formed along a portion of the strap body; and
 a strap retention member being in connection with the strap body at the one end that unidirectionally engages said plurality of teeth when the other end of said strap body is inserted therein; and

 the rotatably mounted clip being in communication with the opening,
 wherein the rotatably mounted clip is freely rotatable in the opening relative to the strap body.

       2. The strap with the rotatably mounted clip of claim 1 wherein said strap body and said rotatably mounted clip form the strap with the rotatably mounted clip in a single mold operation.

       3. The strap with the rotatably mounted clip of claim 1 wherein said rotatably mounted clip is distinct from said strap body.

       4. A strap with a rotatably mounted clip, comprising:
 a strap body defining an opening therethrough, said strap body including, ends;
 a plurality of teeth formed along a portion of the strap body; and
 a strap retention member being in connection with the strap body at the one end that unidirectionally engages said plurality of teeth when the other end of said strap body is inserted therein; and

 the rotatably mounted clip being in communication with the opening,
 wherein the rotatably mounted clip is freely rotatable in the opening relative to the strap body
 wherein said strap body further includes an elevated boss defining the opening therethrough.

       5. The strap with the rotatably mounted clip of claim 4 wherein the strap body includes a first side and a second side opposite the first side, and the plurality of teeth are disposed along the first side, the elevated boss is elevated on the first side, and the strap retention member is elevated on the second side.

       6. The strap with the rotatably mounted clip of claim 4 wherein said elevated boss and said strap retention member are integrally formed as part of the strap body.

       7. The strap with the rotatably mounted clip of claim 4 wherein said elevated boss is disposed on said strap body adjacent said strap retention member.

       8. A strap with a rotatably mounted clip, comprising:
 a strap body defining an opening therethrough, said strap body including, ends;
 a plurality of teeth formed along a portion of the strap body; and
 a strap retention member being in connection with the strap body at the one end that unidirectionally engages said plurality of teeth when the other end of said strap body is inserted therein; and

 the rotatably mounted clip being in communication with the opening,
 wherein the rotatably mounted clip is freely rotatable in the opening relative to the strap body, and
 wherein the rotatably mounted clip includes,
 a pedestal;
 a clip member connected to one end of said pedestal; and
 a head connected to the opposite end of said pedestal,
 wherein said pedestal is disposed within said opening and is trapped thereat by an interfering relationship between said clip member and said head with respect to the pedestal.

       9. The strap with the rotatably mounted clip of claim 8 wherein said clip member includes,
 a circular arc base having a pair of ends, and
 a lead-in leg extending, respectively, from each said end of said circular arc base.

       10. The strap with the rotatably mounted clip of claim 9 wherein a distance between a base of each lead-in leg is a first width, and a spacing of the circular arc base is a second width, said second width is greater than said first width.

       11. The strap with the rotatably mounted clip of claim 8 wherein the strap body further defines a space in the opening between an inner surface of the opening and an outer perimeter of the pedestal, said space being effective to allow rotational movement of the pedestal relative to the strap body.

       12. The strap with the rotatably mounted clip of claim 8 wherein an elevated boss integrally formed in the strap body defines the opening and the elevated boss has a first thickness along the opening, and the portion of strap body including the plurality of teeth has a second thickness, and the pedestal has a length parallel with the opening, said length being greater than a combination of the first thickness and the second thickness.
