Abstract
An echo canceler 10 generates an echo elimination signal by filtering through adaptive filters 101 and 102 reference signals input from sound sources causing echoes. It includes a sound source number detecting unit 103 for detecting the number of the sound sources causing echoes from the reference signals, and a control unit 105 for making the number of taps of the adaptive filters 101 and 102 variable in accordance with the number of the sound sources detected by the sound source number detecting unit 103.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1. An echo canceler for generating an echo elimination signal by filtering, through adaptive filters, reference signals input from sound sources causing echoes, the echo canceler comprising:
a sound source number detecting unit for detecting a number of the sound sources causing echoes from the reference signals; and
a control unit for making a number of taps of the adaptive filters variable in accordance with the number of the sound sources detected by the sound source number detecting unit.
2. The echo canceler according to claim 1 , wherein
the control unit makes the number of taps of the adaptive filters inversely proportional to the number of sound sources causing echoes.
3. The echo canceler according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a delay block, wherein
the control unit controls the delay block to make the number of taps of the adaptive filters equivalently variable by delaying samples corresponding to the number of taps of the adaptive filters.
4. The echo canceler according to claim 1 , wherein
the control unit varies a suppressing amount of a maximum volume of the sound sources causing echoes in accordance with the number of taps of the adaptive filters.
5. The echo canceler according to claim 4 , wherein
the control unit lowers, when limiting volume of the echo sound sources temporarily during utterance of a talker, only the volume of the echo sound source mounted close to a microphone for capturing speech of the talker to a limit value.
6. The echo canceler according to claim 4 , wherein
the control unit lowers, when limiting volume of the echo sound sources temporarily during utterance of a talker, the volume of the echo sound sources to a limit value corresponding to a distance between a microphone for capturing speech of the talker and the echo sound sources, or corresponding to a speech propagation distance or corresponding to a speech propagation attenuation in accordance with mounting places of the echo sound sources.
7. The echo canceler according to claim 4 , wherein
the control unit reports to a talker, when limiting volume of the echo sound sources temporarily during utterance of the talker, that the volumes of the limited echo sound sources are to be lowered.
8. The echo canceler according to claim 1 , wherein
the control unit dynamically varies the number of taps of the adaptive filters in accordance with dynamic changes in the number of the sound sources causing echoes.
9. The echo canceler according to claim 8 , wherein
the control unit immediately alters the number of taps of the adaptive filters in accordance with the number of the sound sources causing echoes.
10. The echo canceler according to claim 8 , further comprising:
a voice recognition unit, wherein
the control unit maintains the number of taps of the adaptive filters during and immediately before voice recognition by the voice recognition unit.
11. The echo canceler according to claim 8 , further comprising:
a storage unit, wherein
the control unit
saves filter coefficients of the adaptive filters in the storage unit, immediately before the number of taps of the adaptive filters are to be altered, and
restores the filter coefficients from the storage unit for reuse when a subsequent varying of the number of taps of the adaptive filters requires the same number of taps.Cited by (0)
