Abstract
Mastering tools and systems and methods for forming a cell on the mastering tools are provided. An exemplary method includes emitting a first laser light pulse from a laser for a first predetermined time interval such that at least a portion of the first laser light pulse forms the cell on the mastering tool. The cell has an opening size within a range of 10-100 micrometers and an aspect ratio less than or equal to 1.25.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1. A mastering tool, comprising:
a cylindrical drum having a cylindrical outer surface and a cell in the cylindrical outer surface, the cell having a diameter of 10 micrometers to 100 micrometers and an aspect ratio of 0.5 to 1.25; and wherein when the tool is in use, the cell will form texture.
2. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the cylindrical outer surface comprises a plurality of the cells, the plurality of cells having different aspects ratios from one another of 0.5 to 1.25.
3. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the cylindrical outer surface comprises a plurality of the cells, the plurality of cells having different opening sizes from one another of 10 micrometers to 100 micrometers.
4. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the cylindrical drum is constructed from steel with an outer chrome surface.
5. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the cylindrical drum is constructed from steel with an outer ceramic surface.
6. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the cylindrical outer surface comprises a plurality of the cells, the plurality of cells being randomly located on the cylindrical drum.
7. The mastering tool of claim 6 , wherein the cylindrical outer surface comprises a plurality of the cells, and wherein centerpoints of the plurality of cells are randomly located within a predetermined distance range from a circumferential line extending around the cylindrical drum.
8. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the cylindrical outer surface comprises a plurality of the cells, and wherein the plurality of cells are randomly located on the cylindrical drum, and wherein the cells have a round shape.
9. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the has a round shape.
10. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the aspect ratio is 0.5 to 0.9.
11. The mastering tool of claim 10 , wherein the aspect ratio is 0.5 to 0.7.
12. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the cylindrical drum has a plurality of the cells and wherein the plurality of cells have a predetermined distribution of cell opening sizes.
13. The mastering tool of claim 1 , wherein the cylindrical drum has a plurality of the cells such that the plurality of cells have a predetermined distribution of position error distances within a range of position error distances.
14. A mastering tool, comprising: an element selected from the group consisting of a cylindrical drum and a plate, wherein the element has a plurality of cells, the plurality of cells being positioned on the element such that the plurality of cells have a predetermined distribution of position error distances within a range of position error distances.
15. A mastering tool, comprising:
a cylindrical drum having a cylindrical outer surface;
wherein the cylindrical drum is constructed from metal; and
wherein the cylindrical surface has a plurality of cells, the plurality of cells having a diameter of 10 micrometers to 100 micrometers and an aspect ratio of 0.5 to 1.25; and
wherein when the tool is in use, the plurality of cells will form texture.
16. A mastering tool, comprising:
a cylindrical drum having a cylindrical outer surface;
wherein the cylindrical drum is constructed from metal;
wherein the cylindrical surface has a plurality of cells, the plurality of cells having a diameter of 10 micrometers to 100 micrometers and an aspect ratio of 0.5 to 1.25, and within a predetermined distribution being randomly located and/or having a random size; and
wherein when the tool is in use, the plurality of cells will form texture.Cited by (0)
