Abstract
Disclosed is an adjustable occlusion device for use in a body lumen such as the left atrial appendage. The occlusion device is removably carried by a deployment catheter. The device may be enlarged or reduced to facilitate optimal placement or removal. Methods are also disclosed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1. A retrieval catheter system for retrieving an implantable device from an implantation site within a body, comprising:
a core releasably attached to the implantable device, the core having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the core is removable from the body with the implantable device positioned at the implantation side,
wherein the implantable device has a proximal end and a distal end and comprises one or more anchors adapted to secure the implantable device within the body, said implantable device having a collapsible framework with a distal end and a proximal end, said framework including a plurality of wire spokes covered with a membrane requiring positive force to retract the spokes;
a tubular body having a flared opening at its distal end formed as petals cut from a parent material of said tubular body, for surrounding at least a portion of the implantable device, wherein the tubular body is configured to slide relative to and over the core;
an outer tubular sleeve, configured to surround the flared opening of the tubular body when the implantable device is at least partially within the flared opening; wherein axial movement of the core relative to the proximal end of the implantable device axially elongates and radially reduces the implantable device by applying an axial force to push the proximal and distal ends of the implantable device apart.
2. A retrieval catheter system for retrieving an implantable device from an implantation site within a body, comprising:
an implantable device comprising one or more anchors adapted to secure the implantable device within the body, said implantable device having a collapsible framework with a distal end and a proximal end, said framework including a plurality wire spokes covered with a membrane requiring positive force to retract the spokes;
a core releasably attached to the implantable device, the core having a proximal and distal end, the core being removable from the body with the implantable device positioned at the implantation site; and a proximal end and distal end of said implantable device cooperate with the core such that axial movement of the core relative to the proximal end of the implantable device axially elongates and radially reduces the implantable device by applying an axial force to push the proximal and distal ends of the implantable device apart; and
a tubular body having a flared opening at its distal end formed as petals cut from a parent material of said tubular body for surrounding at least a portion of the implantable device and covering the one or more anchors, wherein the tubular body is configured to slide relative to and over the core.
3. A retrieval catheter system for retrieving a device from an implantation site within a body, comprising:
an implantable device comprising one or more anchors adapted to secure the implantable device within the body, said implantable device having a proximal end and a distal end and a collapsible framework with a distal end and a proximal end, said framework including a plurality of wire spokes covered with a membrane requiring positive force to retract the spokes;
a core adapted to releasably engage the implantable device, the core having a proximal end and a distal end; and said implantable device proximal end and distal end cooperate with said core such that axial movement of the core relative to the proximal end of the implantable device axially elongates and radially reduces the implantable device by applying an axial force to push the proximal and distal end of the implantable device apart;
a tubular body having a flared opening at its distal end formed as petals cut from a parent material of said tubular body for surrounding at least a portion of the implantable device, wherein the tubular body is configured to slide relative to and over the core
an outer tubular sleeve, configured to surround the flared opening of the tubular body when the implantable device is at least partially within the flared opening; and a deployment catheter adapted to be operably connected with the implantable device and configured to be positioned over the core within the tubular body.
4. A retrieval catheter system for retrieving a device from an implantation site within a body, comprising:
an implantable device comprising one or more anchors adapted to secure the implantable device within the body, having a proximal end and a distal end, said implantable device having a collapsible framework with a distal end and a proximal end, said framework including a plurality of wire spokes covered with a membrane requiring positive force to retract the spokes;
a delivery device engageable with the implantable device, wherein the delivery device is a core extending at least partially through the implantable device and is engageable with the distal end of the implantable device, such that when the distal end of the implantable device is engaged with the core the proximal end of the implantable device is axially slidable relative to the core; and
said implantable device proximal end and distal end cooperate with said core such that axial movement of the core relative to the proximal end of the implantable device axially elongates and radially reduces the implantable device by applying an axial force to push the proximal and distal ends of the implantable device apart;
a retrieval catheter configured to slide relative to and over the delivery device and having a distal portion thereof configured to surround at least a portion of the implantable device; and
a deployment catheter provided over and slidable relative to said core;
said deployment catheter including a tubular body having a flared opening at its distal end formed as petals cut from a parent material of said tubular body for surrounding at least a portion of the implantable device, wherein the tubular body is configured to slide relative to and over the core.
5. The retrieval catheter system of claim 4 , wherein the tubular body distal end further includes a second set of petals overlying and rotationally offset from the petals cut from the parent material of said tubular body such that any one of the second set of petals partially covers any adjacent two of the petals cut from the parent material of said tubular body.Cited by (0)
