Image display control device, image display method, and information storage medium

Abstract

To provide an image display control device capable of displaying a process for switching images in a manner readily recognizable by an observer when sequentially displaying a plurality of images on a display device. An image display control device displays a first image at a predetermined position in a predetermined display area, then repetitively carries out a process for producing and displaying a first transitional image in which the first image is displayed at a first display position in the display area, with brightness lowered for at least a partial area in the display area, while moving the first display position in a direction going away from the predetermined position, then repetitively carries out a process for producing and displaying a second transitional image in which a second image is displayed at a second display position in the display area, with the brightness lowered for at least the partial area in the display area, while moving the second display position in a direction approaching the predetermined position, and thereafter displays the second image at the predetermined position.

1. An image display control device for sequentially displaying a first image and a second image in a display area on a display device, comprising:
 first image display means for displaying the first image at a predetermined position in the display area; 
 first transitional image display means for:
 producing a first transitional image based on the first image; 
 displaying the first transitional image at a first display position in the display area, wherein brightness of the display area is lowered for at least a partial area of the display area; and 
 moving the first display position and the first transitional image in a direction away from the predetermined position; 
 
 second transitional image display means for:
 producing a second transitional image based on the second image; 
 displaying the second transitional image at a second display position in the display area; and 
 moving the second display position and the second transitional image in a direction approaching the predetermined position; and 
 
 second image display means for displaying the second image at the predetermined position when the second display position reaches the predetermined position. 
 
     
     
       2. The image display control device according to  claim 1 , wherein, as the first transitional image display means moves the first display position in a direction away from the predetermined position, the first transitional display means also gradually lower the brightness of the partial area of the display area. 
     
     
       3. The image display control device according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 first less bright image display means for gradually lowering the brightness of the first image after the first image display means displays the first image at the predetermined position. 
 
     
     
       4. The image display control device according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 first blur image producing means for producing a first blur image by carrying out a blur process on the first image; and 
 second blur image producing means for producing a second blur image by carrying out the blur process on the second image, 
 wherein the first transitional image display means produces the first transitional image using the first blur image, and 
 the second transitional image display means produces the second transitional image using the second blur image.

The image display control device according to  claim 1 , wherein as the second transitional image display means moves the second display position in a direction approaching the predetermined position, the second transitional display means also gradually increases the brightness of the partial area of the display area. 
     
     
       6. The image display control device according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 second less bright image display means for displaying the second image at the predetermined position having reduced brightness and gradually increasing the brightness of the second image prior to the second image display means displaying the second image. 
 
     
     
       7. An image display method executed by a processor for sequentially displaying a first image and a second image in a display area on a display device, comprising:
 displaying the first image at a predetermined position in the display area; 
 producing a first transitional image from the first image; 
 displaying the first transitional image at a first display position with brightness lowered for at least a partial area in the display area; 
 moving the first display position and the first transitional image in a direction away from the predetermined position; 
 producing a second transitional image from the second image with brightness lowered for at least a partial area in the display area; 
 displaying the second transitional image at a second display position; 
 moving the second display position and the second transitional image in a direction approaching the predetermined position; and 
 displaying the second image at the predetermined position after the second display position reaches the predetermined position. 
 
     
     
       8. A non-transitory computer readable information storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as an image display control device for sequentially displaying a first image and a second image in a display area on a display device, the computer functioning as:
 first image display means for displaying the first image at a predetermined position in the display area; 
 first transitional image display means for: producing a first transitional image based on the first image; 
 displaying the first transitional image at a first display position in the display area, wherein brightness of the display area is lowered for at least a partial area of the display area; and 
 moving the first display position and the first transitional image in a direction away from the predetermined position; 
 second transitional image display means for: 
 a second transitional image based on the second image; 
 displaying the second transitional image at a second display position in the display area with the brightness lowered for at least a partial area in the display area; and 
 moving the second display position and the second transitional image in a direction approaching the predetermined position; and 
 second image display means for displaying the second image at the predetermined position when the second display position reaches the predetermined position.
