Abstract

The present invention provides methods and uses of phospholipid ether analogs as diagnostic and therapeutic agents for numerous cancers.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A method for the treatment of a cancer in a subject comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a molecule comprising a phospholipid ether analog, wherein the phospholipid ether analog is 18-(p-iodophenyl)octadecyl phosphocholine wherein the iodo moiety of the 18-(p-iodophenyl)octadecyl phosphocholine is 125 I or 131 I, and wherein said cancer is selected from the group consisting of lung cancer, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, glioma, breast cancer, carcinosarcoma, and pancreatic cancer.

       2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the radioactive isotope of iodine is 131 I.

       3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising administering 5-20 μCi/200 g of body weight of the phospholipid ether analog to the subject.

       4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising administering 15-20 μCi/200 g of body weight of the phospholipid ether analog to the subject.

       5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the radioactive isotope of iodine is 125 I.
