Abstract
An accessory is mountable to the side plate of a gun. The accessory may be a sighting device including a light source (preferably a laser), and a power source connectable to the light source. The side plate is positioned on the gun, which is preferably a revolver, preferably by being screwed to it. The side plate includes an attachment mechanism that is preferably located behind the trigger guard and behind the gun cylinder, wherein the accessory is attachable to the attachment mechanism.

A gun that is a revolver, the gun including a muzzle with a bore, a grip, a cylinder for retaining one or more bullets before each of the one or more bullets is fired, a trigger guard, and a side plate having an attachment mechanism, the attachment mechanism being entirely behind the trigger and entirely behind the cylinder, the attachment mechanism for attaching one or more accessories to the gun at a position entirely behind the trigger and the cylinder.
2. The gun of claim 1 , wherein the attachment mechanism is a protrusion extending outward from the side plate, and the accessory is mounted on the protrusion.
3. The gun of claim 1 , wherein the attachment mechanism is one or more openings in the side plate.
4. The gun of claim 2 , wherein the protrusion has a dove-tail shape.
5. The gun of claim 1 , that further includes an accessory attached to the attachment mechanism.
6. The gun of claim 1 , wherein the attachment mechanism does not extend outward from the side plate.
7. The gun of claim 1 , wherein the side plate is attached to the gun by screws.
