Abstract

A variety of roof mount sealing assemblies are disclosed. The roof mount sealing assemblies allow a user to mount rails for solar panels, signs, satellite dish or any other desired item on the roof and have the mounting location sealed against water. The roof mount sealing assemblies has a body with a recess for a flexible washer, which is attached to a bolt body (or formed with the bolt body) and threaded either down in a base plate or directly into the roof. The bolt body and body form a double stud assembly, which also holds a flashing onto the roof to provide further water proofing.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
The invention claimed is:

       1. A roof mount, comprising:
 a spacer with a spacer aperture extending between a top surface and a bottom surface of said spacer, wherein said bottom surface is adapted for positioning on a roof surface;
 a flashing member having a raised section with a flashing aperture and a flange extending about a periphery of a base of said raised section, said raised section defining a recess in a bottom surface of said flashing member sized to at least partially receive and surround said spacer when said flange rests on the roof surface; and
 a threaded bolt body having a lower threaded portion and an upper threaded portion, said lower threaded portion configured for disposition through said flashing aperture and said spacer aperture for threaded insertion into the roof surface, said upper threaded portion configured to extend above the roof surface; and
 an annular element disposed along a length of said bolt body; and
 a soft annular element disposed about said bolt body below said annular element;
 wherein said annular element compresses said soft annular element against a top surface of said raised section of said flashing member and compresses a bottom surface of said recess against a top surface of said spacer when said lower threaded portion of said bolt body is threadably inserted into the roof surface.

       2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said annular element is fixedly connected to said bolt body.

       3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said annular element is threadably engaged with said bolt body.

       4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said annular element further comprises:
 an annular recess formed in a lower surface of said annular element, said annular recess surrounding said bolt body; and
 a ridge surrounding said annular recess, wherein said soft annular element is received within said annular recess when said annular element is compressed against said top surface of said raised section of said flashing member.

       5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein a periphery of said ridge is in direct contact with said top surface of said raised section of said flashing member when said annular element is compressed against said raised section.

       6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said raised section is frustoconical.

       7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of said raised section surrounding said flashing aperture comprises a planar surface.

       8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a depth of said recess is substantially equal to a thickness of said spacer as measured between said top surface and said bottom surface of said spacer.

       9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a bottom surface of said recess is juxtaposed on said top surface of said spacer when said spacer is disposed on the roof surface and said recess of said flashing member is disposed over said spacer.

       10. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein an upper end of said bolt body further comprises:
 a drive element.

       11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein said drive element comprises a hex drive element.

       12. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said lower threaded portion of said bolt body further comprises a self-tapping point.

       13. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said lower threaded portion of said bolt body comprises a lag threaded portion and said upper threaded portion of said bolt body comprises a machine treaded portion.

       14. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said soft annular element is disposed through said flashing aperture, wherein a first portion of said soft annular element is disposed above said raised section of said flashing member and a second portion of said soft annular element is disposed in said recess of said flashing member.
