Abstract
An organic light emitting diode (OLED) display includes a substrate, a light path guide layer formed on the substrate and having an inclined side wall, an organic light emitting diode (OLED) formed on the substrate and the light path guide layer, and a phase transition layer formed on the OLED and formed so as to correspond to the inclined side wall. Therefore, in the OLED display, the phase transition layer is formed in the light path guide layer so that it is possible to minimize external light reflectance increased by the light path guide layer.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1. An organic light emitting diode (OLED) display device, comprising:
a substrate;
a light path guide layer formed on the substrate and having an inclined side wall on a major surface of the substrate;
an organic light emitting diode (OLED) including a first electrode and a second electrode, each of the first electrode and the second electrode having an inclined side wall which is formed on and in parallel with the inclined side wall of the light path guide layer;
a phase transition layer formed on the OLED and formed only to correspond to the inclined side walls of the first electrode, the second electrode and the light path guide layer,
the phase transition layer comprises a semi-transmissive film and a phase transition film located between the inclined side wall of the second electrode and the semi-transmissive film, the phase transition film operatively cooperating with the inclined side wall of the second electrode so that a light reflected from the inclined side wall of the first electrode has a phase transition of 180 degrees attributed to the phase transition film; and
a pixel defining layer formed on the light path guide layer to cover an edge of the first electrode.
2. The OLED display device of claim 1 , the semi-transmissive film formed on the phase transition film.
3. The OLED display device of claim 1 , the OLED further comprises an organic light emitting member formed on the first electrode and having an inclined side wall parallel to the inclined side walls of the first and second electrodes, the organic light emitting member being formed in parallel with the inclined side wall of the light path guide layer.
4. The OLED display device of claim 1 , the phase transition layer is formed on the inclined side wall of the second electrode and has an inclined side wall disposed in parallel with the inclined side walls of the first and second electrodes and the inclined side wall of the organic light emitting member.
5. The OLED display device of claim 4 , the phase transition layer is inclined.
6. The OLED display device of claim 3 , the first electrode is a reflecting electrode.
7. An organic light emitting diode (OLED) display device, comprising:
a substrate;
a light path guide layer formed on the substrate and having an inclined side wall on a top surface of the substrate;
a phase transition layer formed on the inclined side wall of the light path guide layer; and
an OLED including a first electrode and a second electrode formed on the substrate and each of the first electrode and the second electrode having an inclined side wall disposed on and in parallel with the inclined side wall of the light path guide layer,
the phase transition layer having a length substantially equal to a length of the inclined side wall of the second electrode,
the phase transition layer comprises a semi-transmissive film and a phase transition film located between the inclined side wall of the second electrode and the semi-transmissive film, operatively cooperating with the inclined side wall of the second electrode so that a light reflected from the inclined side wall of the first electrode has a phase transition of 180 degrees attributable to the phase transition film, and
a pixel defining layer formed on the light path guide layer so as to cover an edge of the first electrode.
8. The OLED display device of claim 7 , the semi-transmissive film formed on the inclined side wall of the light path guide layer and the phase transition film formed on the semi-transmissive film.
9. The OLED display device of claim 7 , the OLED further comprises an organic light emitting member formed on the first electrode and having an inclined side wall parallel to the inclined side walls of the first and second electrodes, the organic light emitting member being formed in parallel with the inclined side wall of the light path guide layer.
10. The OLED display device of claim 7 , the phase transition layer is inclined.
11. The OLED display device of claim 10 , the second electrode side wall faces and is parallel to the phase transition layer.
12. The OLED display device of claim 9 , the second electrode is a reflecting electrode.
13. The OLED display device of claim 7 , a length of the phase transition layer is smaller than a length of the inclined side wall.Cited by (0)
