Abstract

Images of a layout target for a template are acquired. The plurality of acquired images are edited using editing processing corresponding to a category corresponding to a layout. The edited images are arranged on the template corresponding to the category.

What is claimed is: 
     
       1. An apparatus comprising:
 an acquisition unit configured to acquire an image of a layout target for a template; 
 a determination unit configured to determine a category of the template based on an output timing of a layout in which the image acquired by said acquisition unit is arranged on the template; 
 an editing unit configured to edit the image acquired by said acquisition unit using editing processing corresponding to the category of the template determined by said determination unit; and 
 an arranging unit configured to arrange the image edited by said editing unit on the template corresponding to the category. 
 
     
     
       2. The apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein said editing unit trims a region corresponding to the category of the image of the layout target. 
     
     
       3. The apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein said editing unit specifies a region of an editing target in the image of the layout target and changes a color of the specified region to a color corresponding to the category. 
     
     
       4. The apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein said acquisition unit acquires images in number or size corresponding to the category as the layout target for the template corresponding to the category. 
     
     
       5. The apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein said arranging unit arranges a plurality of images acquired by said acquisition unit on the template such that each of the plurality of images is arranged at an arrangement position corresponding to the category. 
     
     
       6. The apparatus according to  claim 5 , wherein said arranging unit arranges the plurality of images in accordance with an arrangement order based on the category and time information corresponding to each of the plurality of images. 
     
     
       7. The apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein said arranging unit arranges a plurality of images acquired by said acquisition unit on the template such that the plurality of images are arranged in an arrangement order corresponding to the category. 
     
     
       8. The apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein said acquisition unit acquires the image corresponding to the category of the template out of a plurality of images based on the output timing and an attribute of each of the plurality of images that are arrangement candidates for the template. 
     
     
       9. The apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising an obtaining unit configured to obtain the template from a plurality templates, based on the category determined by said determination unit,
 wherein said arranging unit arranges the image on the template obtained by said obtaining unit. 
 
     
     
       10. The apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising an outputting unit configured to output the layout in which the image edited by said editing unit is arranged on the template corresponding to the category. 
     
     
       11. The apparatus according to  claim 10 , wherein said outputting unit causes a display device to display the layout. 
     
     
       12. The apparatus according to  claim 10 , wherein said outputting unit causes a printing device to print the layout. 
     
     
       13. An image processing method executed in an image processing apparatus for laying out an image on a template, comprising:
 determining a category of the template based on an output timing of a layout in which the image is arranged on the template; 
 acquiring the image of a layout target for the template; 
 editing the image using editing processing corresponding to the determined category of the template; and 
 arranging the edited image on the template corresponding to the category. 
 
     
     
       14. The method according to  claim 13 , wherein in the editing, a region corresponding to the category of each image of the layout target is trimmed based on the category. 
     
     
       15. The method according to  claim 13 , wherein in the editing, a region of an editing target in each image of the layout target is specified, and a color of the specified region is changed to a color corresponding to the category. 
     
     
       16. The method according to  claim 13 , wherein in the acquiring, images in number or size corresponding to the category are acquired as the layout target for the template corresponding to the category. 
     
     
       17. The method according to  claim 13 , wherein in the arranging, a plurality of images are arranged on the template such that each of the plurality of images is arranged at an arrangement position corresponding to the category. 
     
     
       18. The method according to  claim 17 , wherein in the arranging, the plurality of images are arranged in accordance with an arrangement order based on the category and time information corresponding to each of the plurality of images. 
     
     
       19. The method according to  claim 13 , wherein in the arranging, a plurality of images are arranged on the template such that the plurality of images are arranged in an arrangement order corresponding to the category. 
     
     
       20. The method according to  claim 13 , wherein in the acquiring, the image corresponding to the category of the template is acquired out of a plurality of images based on the output timing and an attribute of each of the plurality of images that are arrangement candidates for the template. 
     
     
       21. The method according to  claim 13 , further comprising obtaining the template from a plurality templates, based on the determined category,
 wherein the edited image is arranged on the obtained template. 
 
     
     
       22. The method according to  claim 13 , further comprising outputting the layout in which the edited image is arranged on the template corresponding to the determined category. 
     
     
       23. The method according to  claim 22 , wherein in the outputting, the layout is output to a display device and is displayed by the display device. 
     
     
       24. The method according to  claim 22 , wherein in the outputting, the layout is output to a printing device and is printed by the printing device. 
     
     
       25. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a program that causes a computer to execute:
 acquiring an image of a layout target for a template; 
 determining a category of the template based on an output timing of a layout in which the image is arranged on the template; 
 editing the acquired image using editing processing corresponding to the category of the template; and 
 arranging the edited image on the template corresponding to the category.
