Abstract
The present application generally relates to the use of metabolites of ginger and analogs thereof for the treatment and prevention of diseases, including but not limited to, cancer.
Claims

1. A compound having the formula:
wherein n is selected from the group of 2, 4, 6 and combinations thereof; and
the compound is in an isolated or purified form.
2. The compound of claim 1 as a pharmaceutically acceptable salt.
3. The compound of claim 1 as a pharmaceutically acceptable hydrate.
4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a unit dose of an active ingredient and a pharmaceutical grade carrier wherein said active ingredient is a compound having the formula:
and wherein n is selected from the group consisting of 2, 4, 6 and combinations thereof.
5. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 4 , wherein said active ingredient is a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or hydrate of said formula.
6. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 4 , wherein said compound is in an isolated or purified form.
7. A nutraceutical composition comprising an active ingredient and a food grade carrier wherein said active ingredient is a compound having the formula:
and wherein n is selected from the group consisting of 2, 4, 6 and combinations thereof.
8. The nutraceutical composition of claim 7 , wherein said active ingredient is a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or hydrate of said formula.
9. The nutraceutical composition of claim 7 , wherein said compound is in an isolated or purified form.
10. The nutraceutical composition of claim 7 wherein n consists essentially of 2 and 4.
11. The nutraceutical composition of claim 7 wherein n consists essentially of 2 and 6.
12. The nutraceutical composition of claim 7 wherein n consists essentially of 4 and 6.
