Abstract

Example embodiments of the present invention include a communication terminal, which controls a display to display a currently set value of quality parameter of content data to be transmitted from the communication terminal to a counterpart communication terminal, transmits a request for changing quality parameter from the currently set value to a value selected by a user to a communication management system through a network, receives an updated charge fee to be charged for transmitting content data having the selected value of quality parameter from the communication management system, and controls a display to display the updated charge fee.

The invention claimed is: 
     
       1. A communication terminal, comprising:
 processing circuitry that controls a display to display a currently set value of quality parameter of content data to be transmitted from the communication terminal to a counterpart communication terminal; 
 a transmitter that transmits a request for changing quality parameter from the currently set value to a value selected by a user to a communication management system through a network; 
 a receiver that receives an updated charge fee to be charged for transmitting content data having the selected value of quality parameter from the communication management system; and 
 processing circuitry that controls the display to display the updated charge fee. 
 
     
     
       2. The communication terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the processing circuitry controls the display to display a screen including the updated charge fee and the selected value of quality parameter of content data. 
     
     
       3. The communication terminal of  claim 2 , wherein
 the receiver further receives sample content data having the selected value of quality parameter from the communication management system, and 
 the processing circuitry controls the display to display the sample content data on the screen in addition to the updated charge fee and the selected value of quality parameter of content data. 
 
     
     
       4. The communication terminal of  claim 3 , wherein the sample content data is video image data. 
     
     
       5. The communication terminal of  claim 3 , wherein the sample content data is still image data. 
     
     
       6. The communication terminal of  claim 3 , wherein the sample content data is sound data. 
     
     
       7. The communication terminal of  claim 3 , wherein the screen further includes a confirmation key to be selected by the user to confirm the request for changing quality parameter to the selected value, and
 in response to selection of the confirmation key, content data to be transmitted from the communication terminal to the counterpart communication terminal is caused to have the selected value of quality parameter. 
 
     
     
       8. A method of controlling display of information through a communication terminal, the method comprising:
 displaying a currently set value of quality parameter of content data to be transmitted from the communication terminal to a counterpart communication terminal; 
 accepting a user input that requests to change quality parameter from the currently set value to a value selected by a user; 
 receiving an updated charge fee to be charged for transmitting content data having the selected value of quality parameter from a communication management system in response to sending a request for changing the quality parameter; and 
 displaying the updated charge fee. 
 
     
     
       9. The method of  claim 8 , further comprising:
 displaying a screen including the updated charge fee and the selected value of quality parameter of content data. 
 
     
     
       10. The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 receiving sample content data having the selected value of quality parameter from the communication management system, and 
 displaying the sample content data on the screen in addition to the updated charge fee and the selected value of quality parameter of content data. 
 
     
     
       11. The method of  claim 10 , wherein the sample content data is video image data. 
     
     
       12. The method of  claim 10 , wherein the sample content data is still image data. 
     
     
       13. The method of  claim 10 , wherein the sample content data is sound data. 
     
     
       14. The method of  claim 10 , further comprising:
 displaying a confirmation key to be selected by the user to confirm the request for changing quality parameter to the selected value; and 
 in response to selection of the confirmation key, causing content data to be transmitted from the communication terminal to the counterpart communication terminal to have the selected value of quality parameter. 
 
     
     
       15. A non-transitory recording medium which, when executed by one or more processors, cause the processors to perform a method comprising:
 displaying a currently set value of quality parameter of content data to be transmitted from the communication terminal to a counterpart communication terminal; 
 accepting a user input that requests to change quality parameter from the currently set value to a value selected by a user; 
 receiving an updated charge fee to be charged for transmitting content data having the selected value of quality parameter from a communication management system in response to sending a request for changing the quality parameter; and 
 displaying the updated charge fee.
