Abstract
Disclosed herein are methods and compositions for treating or preventing Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) infection in a subject.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1. A composition comprising an inactivated porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) associated with a nanoparticle, and a Mycobacterium lysate adjuvant.
2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the adjuvant is a Mycobacterium vaccae whole cell lysate.
3. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the adjuvant is a Mycobacterium tuberculosis whole cell lysate.
4. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the adjuvant is a Mycobacterium smegmatis whole cell lysate.
5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the nanoparticle is immunogenic.
6. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the nanoparticle is conjugated with the inactivated PRRSV.
7. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the inactivated PRRSV is entrapped within the nanoparticle by a water/oil/water emulsion method.
8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the nanoparticle comprises poly(lactide co-glycolide) (PLGA).
9. The composition of claim 8 , wherein the PLGA is 50/50 PLGA.
10. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the nanoparticle comprises chitosin.
11. The composition of claim 8 , in a ratio of about 180 mg of PLGA to about 5 mg of inactivated PRRSV.
12. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the inactivated PRRSV is the MN184 strain of PRRSV.
13. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the inactivated PRRSV is inactivated by UV light.
14. A vaccine comprising a composition of claim 1 in a carrier.
15. A method of eliciting an immune response against PRRSV in a pig comprising administering to said pig the vaccine of claim 14 .
16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the immune response is protective against PRRSV infection.
17. A method of reducing reproductive or respiratory failure in a pig comprising administering to said pig the vaccine of claim 14 .
18. A method of stimulating an immune response in a pig comprising: administering to said pig the vaccine of claim 14 .
19. The method of claim 15 , wherein the vaccine is administered at a dose of between 100 ug/pig and 500 ug/pig.
20. The method of claim 15 , wherein the composition or vaccine is administered in a single dose.
21. The method of claim 15 , wherein the vaccine is administered in two doses.
22. The method of claim 21 , wherein the two doses are administered at about two week intervals.
23. The method of claim 15 , wherein the vaccine is administered intranasally.Cited by (0)
