Abstract

A disclosed lock washer includes a first opening spaced apart from a second opening for receiving fasteners and preventing rotation. A first set of tabs is associated with the first opening and a second set of tabs is associated with the second opening. Each of the first and second set of tabs are bendable to a lock position preventing rotation of a fastener received within a corresponding one of the first opening and the second opening.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A mid-turbine frame assembly comprising:
 a case defining a first bolt hole and a second bolt hole spaced a first distance apart;
 a tie rod secured relative to the case by a first bolt extending through the first bolt hole and a second bolt extending through the second bolt hole; and
 a lock washer including a first opening spaced apart from a second opening the first distance, a first set of tabs associated with the first opening, and a second set of tabs associated with the second opening,
 wherein each of the first set of tabs are bendable to a lock position preventing rotation of the first bolt received within the first opening,
 wherein each of the second set of tabs are bendable to a lock position preventing rotation of the second bolt received within the second opening,
 wherein the first set of tabs extends away from the first opening in a first direction and the second set of tabs extends away from the second opening in a direction the same as the first direction,
 wherein a side surface of the first set of tabs is parallel to a side surface of the second set of tabs prior to being bent to the lock position, and
 wherein the side surface of the first set of tabs and the side surface of the second set of tabs are disposed at a tab set angle, the tab set angle is the same for the first set of tabs and the second set of tabs and non-normal to a back side that is opposite the first set of tabs and the second set of tabs.

       2. The mid-turbine frame assembly as recited in claim 1 , wherein each of the first set of tabs and the second set of tabs are angled upwardly relative to a top surface of the lock washer before being bent into the lock position.

       3. The mid-turbine frame assembly as recited in claim 1 , wherein the first and second bolt holes are disposed adjacent a flange of the case, wherein the lock washer includes an orientation wherein at least one of the first set of tabs and the second set of tabs engage the flange to mis-align one of the first and second openings with a corresponding one of the first and second bolt holes.

       4. The mid-turbine frame assembly as recited in claim 1 , wherein the engagement between the first bolt received through the first opening of the lock washer and the second bolt received through the second opening of the lock washer prevent rotation of the lock washer relative to the case.
