Abstract
In a telecommunications system, components which fail and have backup resources are dynamically remapped to insert the backup resource in place of the failed component. A configuration database containing data for each resource in the switching platform of a telecommunications systems can be dynamically searched to identify backup resource and dynamically updated to reflect addressing and connection data for remapped components, thereby allowing dynamic replacement of failed components in the switching platform that is transparent to the applications processor of the telecommunications system.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1. A method for remapping a component in a switching platform, comprising the steps of:
identifying a failed component;
searching a configuration database to determine if a replacement component is available;
if a replacement component is available, making a new connection in the switching platform including the replacement component; and
dynamically updating the configuration database to reflect the new connection including the replacement component.
2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the failed component includes a digital signal processor (DSP) and the replacement component includes a spare DSP.
3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the configuration database includes configuration data for each resource in the switching platform.
4. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the resource includes one of a switching module, a signal processing module, an interface module and a telephony support module.
5. The method according to claim 3 , wherein each resource in the switching platform is identified by a logical component identifier (LCI), the LCI also providing an index into the configuration database.Cited by (0)
