Claims
Abstract
Photoinitiators having at least one terminal fluoroalkyl moiety are useful for photopolymerizing and photocuring fluorinated as well as non-fluorinated monomers, especially fluorinated acrylic monomers.

Compounds of the formula ##STR11## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from the group consisting of H; alkyl, straight chain, branched or cyclic, having from 1 to 40 carbons; and --Y--R F , R 3 and R 4 are independently selected from the group consisting of H; alkyl, straight chain, branched or cyclic, having from 1 to 40 carbons; aryl; --OY--R F , --Y--R F ; and --R F , wherein Y in different --OY--R F and --Y--R F groups is independently --C(O)--; --(CH 2 ) k --wherein k is an integer of from 1 to 10; --CH 2 CH(OH)CH 2 --; and --(CH 2 CH 2 O)--; and --R F in different --OY--R F , --Y--R F and --R F groups is independently --(CF 2 ) t Z; --CF(CF 3 )[OCF 2 CF(CF 3 )] m Z; and --CF 2 (OCF 2 CF 2 ) m --(CF 2 O) n Z; wherein t is an integer of from 1 to 10; m is an integer of from 1 to 10; n is an integer of from 1 to 10; and Z is H or F; with the proviso that at least one of R 1 and R 2 is --Y--R F .
2. Compounds of claim 1 wherein R F includes a --(CF 2 ) t Z moiety wherein t is an integer greater than 7.
3. Compounds of claim 1 wherein R F includes a moiety selected from the group consisting of --CF(CF 3 )[OCF 2 CF(CF 3 )] m Z and --CF 2 (OCF 2 CF 2 ) m --(CF 2 O) n Z wherein m and n each are integers of from 1 to 10.
4. Compounds according to any one of claims 1, 2 or 3 wherein Z in the --R F moiety is F.
5. Compounds according to claim 1 wherein the R 1 and R 2 groups are H or alkyl, straight chain, branched or cyclic, having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
6. Compounds of claim 5 wherein R F includes a --(CF 2 ) t F moiety wherein t is an integer greater than 7.
7. Compounds of claim 5 wherein R F includes a moiety selected from the group consisting of --CF(CF 3 )[OCF 2 CF(CF 3 )] m F and --CF 2 (OCF 2 CF 2 ) m --(CF 2 O) n F wherein m and n each are integers of from 1 to 10.
8. Compounds according to claim 1 wherein the R 3 and R 4 groups are selected from the group consisting of H, --OY--R F and --Y--R F wherein Y is selected from the group consisting of --C(O)--, --(CH) k -- wherein k is an integer of from 1 to 4, and --(CH 2 CH 2 O)--.
9. Compounds according to claim 8 wherein the R 1 and R 2 groups are H or alkyl, straight chain, branched or cyclic, having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
10. Compounds according to any one of claims 8 or 9 wherein R F includes a --(CF 2 ) t F moiety wherein t is an integer greater than 7.
11. Compounds according to any one of claims 8 or 9 wherein R F includes a moiety selected from the group consisting of --CF(CF 3 )[OCF 2 CF(CF 3 )] m F and --CF 2 (OCF 2 CF 2 ) m --(CF 2 O) n F wherein m and n each are integers of from 1 to 10.Cited by (0)
